Morphological characteristics of osprey

Osprey is a medium-sized raptor with a white head and dark brown longitudinal stripes on the top. The feathers on the pillow are slightly needle-shaped and elongated, forming a short crown. There is a wide black belt on the side of the head, which extends from the root of the forehead through the eyes to the back neck and blends with the black of the back neck. The upper body is sandy brown or grayish brown with a purplish luster.

The lower body is white, with thin dark brown feathers on the chin and reddish brown stripes on the chest. When flying, the wings are long and narrow and cannot be straightened. The wing angle bends back to a certain angle and often hovers on the water. Seen from below, the lower part of the white and the wings are covered with black spots with the same wing angle, with dark longitudinal stripes and flying feathers on the chest, and the horizontal spots alternately arranged on the tail feathers are very eye-catching.
