How does portrait photography compose a picture, and what skills are there?

The high and low light level in portrait photography refers to the change of the main light along the height coordinate. Higher than the conventional 45 position is called high light level, and lower than the conventional 45 position is called low light level. The light level must be changed according to the subject, posture, nose type and camera shooting angle of the photo.

1, depending on the shooting theme, use high and low light levels.

Different light levels produce different lighting effects. The light level must obey the needs of the theme. For example, to express the theme of "scorching sun in the sky", we should use high light level to make the picture show the top light effect; To show the story of sunrise or sunset, low illumination should be used to highlight the effect of sunrise or sunset.

2, according to the body posture, using high and low light levels.

The light level of normal height of 45 is determined according to the head-up posture of the subject. Using this illumination angle is beneficial to express the facial hierarchy and three-dimensional sense. Therefore, when a person's face is tilted upward, the main light level should be improved, otherwise, ugly dark shadows will appear on both sides of the bridge of the nose. If the face is inclined downward, the level of main light should be reduced accordingly to avoid the defects of bright forehead and nose and thick shadows in other parts. In fact, the level of the main light depends on whether the strip-shaped reflected strong light can be displayed on the nose of the character. Any light level that can show the strong light reflected by the bar on the bridge of the nose is suitable, otherwise the high and low light levels will be changed.

3. Use high and low light levels according to the nose shape of the character.

The change of the main light level should take into account the shape of the subject's nose. If the nose is high, the main light level is slightly higher; On the contrary, the main light level will be slightly lower. This can well show the strong light reflected on the bridge of the nose and the three-dimensional sense of the face, but the lifting range cannot be too large.

4, according to the camera shooting angle, using high and low light levels.

When the camera is tilted upward at a low angle, the main light level should be increased; On the other hand, if the camera is at a high angle, the main light level must be lowered. Its level is also based on whether the reflected strong light can be displayed on the nose of the person.
