Five schools of Zen ancestral hall

1, three parameters. Sanlunjiao takes Caotang Temple in Huxian County, Shaanxi Province as its ancestral court, and qixia temple in Nanjing as its ancestral court in the south of the Yangtze River. Caotang Temple was founded in 40 1 year in the Eastern Jin Dynasty. Kumarajiva, a monk from the Western Regions, once lived in this thatched cottage and translated Buddhist scriptures, hence the name Caotang Temple.

Kumarajiva translated the famous Buddhist "Three Views in the Middle View"-Zhong Lun, Bai Lun, Twelve-door Theory in Caotang Temple, which provided a classic basis for the establishment of the Three Views School, so he was honored as the ancestor of the Three Views School. After that, Ji Zang, a monk in Sui and Tang Dynasties, formally founded the Sanfazong.

2. Tiantai Sect. Tiantai Zongzuting is the National Assembly Temple in Tiantai Mountain, Zhejiang Province. Tiantai Sect was founded by Zhiyi, a monk in Chen and Sui Dynasties. Because Zhiyi lived in Tiantai Mountain for a long time, he was named Tiantai Sect. Tiantai Sect takes Hokkekyo as its main doctrine. The lotus sutra of the wonderful method is called Hokkekyo for short, so Tiantai Sect is also called Fahua Sect. Japanese Rilian School originated from Tiantai Sect in China and was first introduced to Japan by Japanese monks in the early 9th century. Today, both Tiantai Benzong and Rilian Sect in Japan are very prosperous.

3. Hua Yanzong. Huayan Zongzuting is Huayan Temple in Xi 'an, Shaanxi. Huayan Sect was founded by the sage Fazang in the seventh century, with Du Shun as the ancestor and Huayan Sutra as the main doctrine. Huayan Temple in Xi 'an was built during the Zhenguan period of Emperor Taizong (627 -649). It was a famous temple with a high status in the Tang Dynasty, and most of it was later destroyed. At present, only Master Du Shun's Lingta and Master Cheng Guan's Lingta are cultural relics, and other buildings are newly built.

4. Pure Land Sect. Tolin Temple in Lushan Mountain, Jiangxi Province and Ji xiang Temple in Xi, Shaanxi Province are the ancestral homes of Pure Land Sect. Hui Yuan (334-4 16), the ancestor of the Eastern Jin Dynasty, lived in Tuolin Temple in Lushan Mountain. After the death of the second ancestor of the Tang Dynasty (6 13-68 1), disciple Huai Yun built Ji Xiang Temple for him, which made the two temples revered as ancestral temples.

The main teachings of Pure Land Sect are the Five Classics, the Infinite Life Sutra, the Amitabha Sutra, and the Bodhisattva chanting Buddha Tong Yuan Zhang Jing. Pure land Sect has a far-reaching influence in China. Pure land Sect takes "going to the pure land of western bliss" as its practice purpose, and "Amitabha Buddha in the south" which is often recited by ordinary people is its main practice method, and chanting Buddha's name is its main practice method.

5. Faxiangzong. Faxiangzong took Xi 'an Ji 'an in Shaanxi as his ancestral court. Faxiangzong, also known as the Sect of Knowing Only and the Sect of Yoga, was founded by Xuanzang, a famous Tang priest. Its main teachings are Once upon a time, The Secret Sutra of Shen Jie, and The Theory of Yoga Master. Dajingji Hotel is located at Ci 'en Road 1, Yanta District, Xi City. It was built by Prince Li Zhi in 648, the 22nd year of Zhenguan in Tang Dynasty, in memory of his mother, Empress Wende. Master Xuanzang presided over the temple affairs here.
