What are the ratings of American movies? For example, what is the abbreviation of R?
The Motion Picture Association of America grading system is as follows:
G: Ordinary audience, suitable for all ages.
(All audiences, young and old)
Most of these films are cartoons and children's films.
Drama films such as The Princess Diary.
PG: Parents are advised to give guidance. Some contents may not be suitable for children.
(Parents are advised to guide their children to watch, and some contents may not be suitable for children to watch)
There are basically no scenes of sex and drug abuse in this kind of movies, and even if there are, they are quite implicit. Violence, blood and swearing are also strictly controlled.
This level is only a "suggestion", and there is no age barrier, so it is a level that filmmakers love to see and hear, and it is also the most concentrated level of Hollywood blockbusters, which can be described as suitable for all ages. As thrilling as the legend of zorro, as funny as Corpse Bride, as serious as pride and prejudice.
PG- 13: Parents strongly warned that some contents may not be suitable for children under 13.
(parents are seriously warned that some contents may be very unsuitable for children under 13).
Last year's Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire was named PG- 13 because it vividly showed the dark magic ceremony, amputation and murder at the end, which caused an uproar. Great white sharks try to get PG grades to attract students. The Motion Picture Association of America thinks this is a joke. Blood dyed the sea red several times, and broken arms and legs emerged one after another. It's lighter to give PG- 13. The producer insisted that we just wanted to show the cruelty of nature. Will children learn to bite in the water after watching it? The Motion Picture Association of America couldn't beat them and finally gave in. The great white shark is a typical edge ball. There is a scene in which a person's legs slowly sink to the bottom of the sea. As long as this shot lasts for half a second, or the broken leg pops up from the bottom of the sea, the American Film Association has reason to think that it is rendering blood and insisting on the classification of PG- 13. So it's a miracle that the great white shark can get PG anyway.
R: Restricted. Parents or adult guardians are required to accompany children under 17.
(Restricted level,/kloc-under 0/7 years old, parents or guardians are required to watch)
Movies at this level will contain more and more explicit sex, nudity, violence and unscrupulous swearing.
Such as chainsaw fright, American pie, American beauty. Brokeback Mountain, which attracted much attention last year, got an R grade for its bold homosexual behavior. This has nothing to do with the quality of the film.
NC- 17: People below 17 are not allowed to enter.
(No viewing below 17)
Basically, it doesn't matter if a movie reaches this level. A clear and direct sex scene, a close-up of drug abuse, is enough to compile a dictionary full of dirty words. Trainspotting and other movies about drug abuse are only rated as R in the United States. Bertolucci's dream in Paris was rated as NC- 17 because he refused to remove those genital features.
