How to store photo paper

The lifespan of any photo paper depends on the storage environment and how well it is processed.

Due to its multi-layer structure, plastic-coated photo paper is prone to the emulsion layer falling off due to different water absorption and thermal expansion rates of different layers during long-term storage. It is generally believed that the lifespan will not exceed 40 years. Individual special image processes, if handled properly, are more durable than paper-based paper due to their inherent stability.

Among the digital image production methods, the first one recognized by domestic image collectors and high-end photographers is the "giclee process." This process uses Epson Century Iridescent K3 pigment ink and Epson pure cotton acid-free paper. , the output works have the characteristics of high color accuracy, large color gamut, light resistance and anti-oxidation, and long-lasting collection, which can fully meet the collectors’ needs for the preservation of collections. According to results obtained in accelerated experiments, black-and-white photos can be stored for up to 200 years and color photos can be stored for up to 108 years in a normal indoor environment and using Epson's specific pure cotton acid-free media. It is understood that in the autumn Huachen Auction held in 2006, among the 133 works that were auctioned, nearly 60 works were produced with Epson Giclee technology. In the international market, photos produced by the giclée photo production process have long become the first choice for museums, galleries and collectors.
