How to shoot the beautiful scenery of Tindal effect?
First of all, let me give you an overview of what the Tindal effect is. When a beam of light passes through the colloid, a bright "path" can be observed in the colloid from the vertical direction of the incident light. This phenomenon is called Tindal phenomenon, also known as Tindal effect.
The essence of Tindal phenomenon is the scattering of light. When light passes through inhomogeneous medium, the propagation direction of some light will deviate, which is the phenomenon of light scattering. The light that deviates from the original propagation direction is called scattered light.
As we know, colloid is a dispersion system between solution and suspension, which is formed by colloidal particles dispersed in dispersant. The diameter of colloidal particles is between 1 ~ 100nm, which is close to the wavelength of visible light (400 ~ 700nm). When visible light passes through the colloid, the light scattering phenomenon is enhanced and easy to observe.
Photography is the art of capturing light. Therefore, the Tindal effect, a common optical phenomenon, can highlight the beautiful effect in some specific situations and become a photographer's favorite. Photography is often called "Jesus light", or just a light beam. Few people say that I took photos of the Tindal effect.
Second, how to take photos of the Tindal effect?
First of all, there are two elements in taking such photos:
1. There must be light, and it is a beam of light.
2. There should be suspended colloidal particles.
As long as these two conditions are met, beautiful beams can be shot. Especially in places where common light beams are generated, such as cloudy light beams, stage light beams, and pouring light beams among leaves in the Woods.
For composition, the shooting of Tindal phenomenon is not much different from general photography. A good photo needs a clear theme, and all elements of the picture serve the theme. The whole painting should not be crooked or dirty, and it should be as concise as possible on the premise of ensuring the expression of ideas. The theme of the picture is generally not in the center of the picture, but at a certain point in the nine squares. In this way, the whole picture will look neat, the theme is clear and beautiful.
Don't overexpose or underexpose.
Tindal phenomenon itself is difficult to become the theme of the picture. In fact, it is difficult to make a good film by completely shooting Tindal phenomenon. Because Tindal phenomenon only creates an artistic conception and an atmosphere, and what this artistic conception and atmosphere set off is the key. Whether it is a young girl, a shadow in the morning fog, or a dark cloud clinging to the city, this is a good theme of Tyndall phenomenon.
Let's talk about the scene in detail through a few photos of the Tindal effect:
Photographers with stage shooting experience know that in order to create a better atmosphere, there are generally a large number of beam lights on the scene, and in order to make these beam lights have a better display effect, one or two smoke machines are usually put on the scene, as shown in the figure, each beam has smoke fluttering. This is one of the practical applications of Tindal effect.
Common Dindar effect in reality, as shown above, the beam effect projected by the gap between clouds will also be reflected in the atmosphere with water vapor. When taking such photos, it should be noted that light needs to pass through the gaps between clouds to appear, and there are floating objects or water vapor in the air.
In addition, the beam effect projected by water waves can also be photographed in water with floating particles, so that the unevenness of water waves can divide the light into beams. As shown in the figure, if the water surface is as calm as a mirror and the particles are not big enough, the picture of Tindal effect cannot be obtained.
Sunlight in the Woods, light in the morning fog and water vapor. This is also a manifestation of the Dindar effect that can often be seen in nature.
In addition to scene selection and composition, these aspects are also the key points to shoot a good-looking beam:
1. On the premise of beam light and suspended colloidal particles, it is best to have a dark background when shooting. The darker the background, the more obvious the effect of the light beam. For example, in the Woods after the rain, the humidity is very high and high. If the sun shines through the cracks in the leaves at this time, it is a very good time and place to take pictures under the contrast of the overall dark environment.
2. Most scenes produced by shooting beams are side backlighting or backlighting, so it is best to use M-files and spot metering when shooting. Spot metering mode is used to measure the light at the highlight of the picture, and the shutter speed does not need to be slow, as long as it can achieve a continuous safe shutter speed.
3. When taking such photos, the big light contrast will be bigger. It is best to use low contrast and RAW format when shooting, which can better preserve the details of the picture.
Third, the post-processing ideas:
In the processing of RAW format, the details of highlights and dark parts of photos should be accelerated first, and then the color temperature should be corrected to increase the contrast and clarity. The adjustment method shown in the figure below needs to be adjusted according to the actual picture.
Basically, if you understand the principle of Tindal phenomenon, you will understand the problem. Not only in places with air pollution, you can capture this phenomenon, and you can even make it yourself with props. To shoot a light beam, a simple SLR or micro-camera (professional outsole card machine can also be used)+a slightly wider focal length lens, such as a 35mm lens, is good, or the mobile phone itself is enough.
