Fenggang, formerly known as Li Tangdong. In the early years of the Republic of China, the place name of Fenggang was established because of the construction of Fenggang Xinxu.

Fenggang Town is located in the southeast of Dongguan, with 22 40 ′ 35 ″ north latitude and114 6 ′ 42 ″ east longitude. It borders Huiyang and Baoan (now Longgang and Baoan in Shenzhen) in the southeast and west, and is connected with Tangxia and Qingxi in the north. It is more than 50 kilometers away from Dongguan.

Fenggang is a hilly and mountainous area with continuous mountains, high terrain in the northeast and low terrain in the southwest. There are 7 peaks above 200 meters above sea level, among which Songtuowo Mountain in Huangdong Village is the highest peak in Fenggang, with an altitude of 265.6 meters.

The main river flowing through Fenggang is called Jiujiang water in ancient times and Shima River in modern times. The source is in Yantian Changbiao, and then flows through 8 administrative villages in the town, leaving the country from Zhuweitian and entering Tangxia Town.

Vegetation is subtropical evergreen forest, which is rich in plant resources and various.

Geology consists of marine carbonate rock structure, gray-black, red and white limestone. The thickness of rock stratum is about 400 meters, and the thickness of topsoil is greater than 10 meter. It belongs to lateritic red soil area.

Fenggang faces the South China Sea and is located south of the Tropic of Cancer. It has a subtropical maritime monsoon climate with long summer and short winter. It is characterized by abundant sunshine, abundant rainfall, small climate temperature difference and obvious monsoon. The annual temperature is 25-28℃, the highest temperature is 34-35℃, and the lowest temperature is about 3-40℃. The annual rainfall is1500-2000mm.

Fenggang Town has a bilingual population. According to historical records, the ancestors of Cantonese-speaking people (also known as locals) moved from Nanxiong in northern Guangdong to Guangzhou, and then moved to Fenggang one after another. The natives who came to Fenggang village in the late Song Dynasty and early Yuan Dynasty have a history of more than 600 years. Hakka ancestors originally lived in Fujian and Jiangxi provinces, and they moved south to eastern Guangdong. According to the inscription in Huangdong _ Longan in the middle of Qing Dynasty, the ancestors of the first group of Hakkas who settled in Fenggang Village were "Thirteen Gentlemen". It has been more than 300 years since they were called to move from Guangdong to Fenggang for reclamation.

During the Republic of China, the area under the jurisdiction of Fenggang was 103 square kilometers. In the early days of liberation, some villages in Pinghu Town, Guanlan Town and adjacent Tangxia Town and Qingxi Town of Baoan County were included. Now Fenggang area covers an area of 82.5 square kilometers. There are 12 village (neighborhood) committees and 62 large and small natural villages (squares).

According to the sampling statistics of19861/administrative districts (present villages), there are 25 surnames with more than1000 people in the whole town, and 28 surnames with less than1000 people, among which Zhang and Deng have the largest population, exceeding 2,000 people.

According to the statistics of 1948- 1949, the population of Fenggang is 1.83 million, and 1.73 million in 1954. 1964, due to social and economic objective factors, some people went abroad and flowed out of Hong Kong, and the population decreased to14,700. With the reform and opening up, a large number of foreign capital have been introduced to set up factories, and the population has increased year by year. In 2003, the registered population was 16874. The temporary population exceeds 200,000, and the total population of Fenggang has exceeded 300,000, including floating population and registered population.
