How to use PS curve to better adjust contrast, brightness and hue-light image-professional photography clothing photography pottery ...

Most beginners will use "brightness/contrast" and "color balance" to adjust. Personally, I prefer to use curves to adjust photos. Some photographers may say that curves seem complicated and difficult to use. In fact, after reading the following introduction, you can also learn to use curves to process photos.

Influence of Different Curve Adjustments on Contrast/Brightness

1.s curve (increase contrast)-Push the curve inward according to the two points of 1, and the contrast of the photo will be improved accordingly.

2. Inverse S-curve (reducing contrast)-According to the two points in Figure 2, if you pull the curve outward, the contrast of the photo will be reduced.

3. Curve Up (Increase Brightness)-Press the midpoint in Figure 3 and pull the curve up, and the brightness of the photo will increase accordingly.

4. Curve Down (Decrease brightness)-Press the midpoint in Figure 4 and pull the curve down, and the brightness of the photo will decrease.

Influence of Different Curve Adjustments on Contrast/Brightness

Adjust the tone of photos with curves.

To adjust the color of a photo, we must first understand that the tone of the photo is composed of three channels: RGB (red, green and blue). In the curve function, to adjust the color, you must first select the color curve to be adjusted at the channel position.

Adjust the tone of photos with curves.

1. Red Red-Bend up (add red)/Bend down (add cyan)

2. Green Green–The curve goes up (increasing green)/down (increasing magenta).

3. Blue Blue-Bend Up (Increase Blue)/Bend Down (Increase Yellow)

Example: Using Curves to Process Sunset Photos

Here I take the photos taken at sunset as an example. The original picture has not been processed, the color of the photo is dim, and the feeling of sunset is not strong enough. We tried to use Photoshop to add contrast to the photos and adjust them to the golden sunset effect.

The original picture is adjusted to a golden sunset:

1. Red Red-Curve Up (add red).

2. Blue Blue–The curve is downward (add yellow).

3.s-shaped curve-increase the contrast to complete the adjustment effect of the chart.

If you think the golden sunset is too ordinary, you can also try to change the settings and make a mysterious blues.

1. Red Red-Bend down (add cyan)

2. Blue Blue-Bend upward (increase blue blue)
