Sand fox, Tibetan fox and red fox are national second-class protected animals, while others are not. Fox generally refers to the genus Fox, belonging to Carnivora Canidae. According to the List of National Key Protected Wild Animals, sand fox, Tibetan fox and red fox belong to the national second-class protected animals, among which sand fox is a carnivorous canine fox, also known as Dongsha fox and Caohu fox, mainly distributed in central and eastern Asia, while Tibetan fox is a canine carnivore, also known as Tibet sand fox and Xisha fox. Red fox is a carnivorous canine fox, also known as grass fox and red fox, distributed in Eurasia, North America and all parts of the northern hemisphere. Therefore, the sand fox, Tibetan fox and red fox among foxes are national second-class protected animals, while other foxes such as Bengal fox and Arctic fox are not.
