Riding in Ezhu and looking back, I feel the mood of autumn and winter. How to translate?
The meaning of this poem is:
Source: Qu Yuan's "Nine Chapters Crossing the River" during the Warring States Period
Excerpt:
Cheng Ezhu and looking back, the mood of autumn and winter. There are more than horses walking along the mountain and Gao, and there are more than cars in the mansion beside the forest. I took a boat to Yuanxi, and Qi Wu was on the list to defeat them. The boat is as large as it can be, but it doesn't move in. It's flooded with water and is stagnant.
Translation:
I landed in Ezhu, looked back at the capital, and sighed at the cold wind of autumn and winter. Let my horse slowly walk up the hill, and let my car come to Fanglin. Sit in a boat and go upstream along the Yuanshui River! The boatmen rowed together. The boat was slow and unwilling to move forward, always staying in the swirling current.
Appreciation of "Nine Chapters: Crossing the River"
This poem was written by Qu Yuan in his later years. It was written after "Sorrow". One of the most prominent features of this poem is that There is a large paragraph of written text in it.
This passage describes the scenery of the Yuanshui River Basin and became the earliest outstanding documentary poem in my country, which had an impact on the creation of similar poems in later generations. The organic combination of scenery description and emotional expression in the poem has reached a very perfect level.
In the second paragraph of the poem, through the description of the itinerary, scenery, seasons, climate and the expression of the poet's inner thoughts, we seem to see a man who has experienced vicissitudes of life, isolated and helpless, boarding Ezhu and looking back on his journey. The image of the old poet on the road is like seeing a small boat struggling to move forward in the rapids and whirlpools. The mood of Zhuchen in the boat is the same as what happened to the boat, with endless emotions to express.
The description of the deep mountains and old forests after entering Xupu in the third paragraph of the poem brings out the poet's lonely, sad and angry mood, and makes readers sigh with regret. The use of metaphor and symbolism in this article is also very skillful.
At the beginning of the poem, the poet uses symbolic techniques to express his aspirations and deeds, using curious clothes, wearing a long hairpin, crown cutting the clouds, being covered by the bright moon, and wearing Baolu. , travel to Yaopu, and eat Yuying to symbolize your lofty ambitions. In the last paragraph, Luan birds, phoenixes, and vanilla are used to symbolize integrity and nobility; sparrows, black magpies, and fishy smells are used to describe evil forces, which fully expresses the poet's deep feelings about the current society.
