Why do the photos taken by my digital camera always look gray and cloudy?
Category: Entertainment and Leisure >> Photography and Videography
Problem description:
There is no quality problem with the Kodak P850 camera. It should be a problem with my photography method. May I ask what the problem might be? How to solve it?
The gray problem
Analysis:
"Grey" is a bit vague, let's try to analyze it.
1 White balance setting problem. If this "grey" color is colder or has a bluish-gray tendency, then it is probably because a higher value setting in the white balance manual mode is used. But if this is the case, the color of the film taken on a cloudy day should be more normal than that of the film taken on a sunny day.
2 This is true for films containing a larger sky area ratio. Then it's because the automatic exposure mode is used. Because the brighter sky interferes with the metering, the entire frame automatically reduces the exposure. But if that's the case, a film that doesn't include large swaths of sky should be more normal.
3 Climate environment. I don’t know what the climate is like in the city you live in. If there are many cloudy days, the light ratio is small, the pollution is heavy, and the outdoor visibility is low, the contrast of the scenery will naturally be small, and graying is normal. But if this is the case, the film taken indoors at close range should be more normal.
4 All films are underexposed overall. Check the settings for exposure increase and decrease, and see if they are set to the negative position, that is, to reduce the exposure.
