The difference between 4k panoramic sound giant screen and imax

The resolution of imax film is higher than 4k. The experience of IMAX camera shooting and film IMAX projection is undoubtedly the best, which can reach the resolution of 6 K, but in fact, so far, no film has been shot with IMAX camera from beginning to end, and it is still affordable to shoot some scenes with IMAX camera. There are only a few movies, such as Transformers king kong 2/3, The Dark Knight, The Dark Knight: Rise, Star Trek: Darkness Endless, The Hunger Games 2 and so on. Considering that the film copy of an IMAX movie weighs more than 400 kilograms and needs a crane to move it, you can understand why it is so expensive to shoot a movie with 70mm IMAX special film (the photosensitive area is 10 times that of the traditional 35mm film).

Usually, the "IMAX movie version" we see is actually made by a technology called IMAX DMR. Simply put, they are shot with traditional 35mm film, scanned into digital format with high-resolution scanner to enhance image quality, and then printed on IMAX film (or directly printed on IMAX film with 4K digital master). The resolution of IMAX movies produced by IMAX DMR is less than 6K, but it is no problem to exceed 4K.
