Introduction:

Zhongshan Park is located on the west side of Tiananmen Square, covering an area of ??21.8 hectares. This is a simple, elegant and solemn memorial temple garden. The garden environment is beautiful and the cultural heritage is profound. On January 13, 1988, it was approved by the State Council and listed as a national key cultural relics protection unit.

Zhongshan Park is located in an ancient temple in the northeastern suburbs of Youzhou in the Tang Dynasty.

In the Liao Dynasty, this ancient temple near the royal garden was expanded into a large monk temple - Xingguo Temple.

In the Yuan Dynasty, it was expanded again into Wanshou Xingguo Temple.

In the 18th year of Yongle in the Ming Dynasty (1420), according to the "Zuozu Youshe" system, Wanshou Xingguo Temple was expanded into the National Altar on the right side of Queyoumen.

The Sheji Altar is a place where my country’s feudal emperors worshiped the God of Earth and the God of Grain. It is also a symbol of imperial power, land and national harvest. The emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties held grand ceremonies here every year on the fifth day of the second lunar month and the fifth day of the eighth lunar month to wish for good weather, abundant harvests, and peace and prosperity for the country and the people.

The ancient altar consists of the altar wall, the sacred stove, the sacred warehouse, the Zaiting and the five-color altar, worship hall and halberd hall located on the central axis.

The five-color altar is made of blue and white stone, and is paved with five-color altar soil: red in the south, white in the west, black in the north, green in the east, and yellow in the middle. In the center of the altar, there is a stone pillar with a pointed top and a pointed bottom, which is called Jiangshan Stone or Shezhu Stone.

Shejitan was opened as a park in 1914. It was originally called Central Park and opened on October 10. It was the earliest park in Beijing at that time. It combines temple gardens with modern urban gardens, has profound historical and cultural heritage, and integrates the information of modern gardens with the development of the times, leaving an indelible mark in the history of capital gardens.

Many flowers are planted in Zhongshan Park. Every flower season, all kinds of flowers bloom. Plum blossoms, primroses and tulips bloom in early spring, attracting many photographers. You can always pay attention to the information released by the park when the flowers are in bloom.
