How to photograph the coastline, and what skills are there?

The wonderful use of coastline in photography can make the viewer pleasing. Whether it is sand dunes, gently sloping coast, sea breeze, towering cliffs or beaches with all unique colors, the coast can provide photographers with various shooting opportunities. Here are five tips for you to take an impressive view of the coastline.

1. Take a closer look at the reflection of light.

Whenever you shoot near a water body, please pay attention to the potential available opportunities to enhance the shooting effect. Use light reflection. This is especially important when shooting at sunrise or sunset. If you increase the reflection of colors on the water surface, you can make the image vivid.

Pay attention to small details

Usually in coastal areas, you will be attracted by the beautiful scenery. Therefore, it is easy to ignore the things under your feet when writing. The coastline is full of opportunities to shoot wonderful scenes, which may be seashells beside the water, animal footprints on the beach, small wild flowers or rock specimens growing on sand dunes. Take some time to look around, pay attention to the details around, and don't forget to bring a macro lens!

3. Increase interest in the prospect of photography

When taking landscape photos, it is easy to occupy the focus image, for example, half of the image is sky and the other half is sand. One way to increase interest in these photos is to find the key points in the foreground. If you can put something interesting in the foreground, such as unusual rock shape, it will attract the attention of the viewer. To do this, try shooting from another level. Sometimes, lowering the angle can increase the interest of the picture, but on the contrary, sometimes the higher the angle, the better the effect. Also remember, if you want to emphasize the foreground, you'd better shoot with a small aperture.

4. Reduce the shutter speed

Another way to add interest and make the photo frame full of seascape is to slow down the shutter speed to blur any moving parts of the image. Therefore, by capturing the movement of waves, you can get a hazy picture of the sea or swaying seaweed. Of course, it is recommended to use a tripod to ensure the stability of the camera.

Shoot the horizon

First of all, please make sure that the horizon can be extended in the composition, so as not to damage the photos that are unnaturally inclined to an edge of the image.

Second, avoid putting your eyes in the middle of the picture, but put them near one side (top or bottom), depending on the place of interest: the sky or the foreground of the photo.
