Introduction

Hugo Weaving is one of Australia's most famous actors. He graduated from the National Academy of Arts in 1981 and worked hard on the film and television stage. His most recent role was as Elrond, Lord of the Woodlands, in Peter Jackson's epic film The Dark Side.

Hugo Weaving was born in Nigeria in 1960. He is the middle of three brothers and sisters, with an older brother Simon and a younger sister Anne. A graduate of the Australian National Academy of Dramatic Art, this blue-eyed, unique actor first starred in the 1983 low-budget drama "Edge of the City" with social and moral themes.
