Reason for selection: After the Wenchuan earthquake, Li Deren, an academician of the two academies and a professor of Wuhan University, led the researchers. By comparing and analyzing two satellite radar images before and after Dujiangyan earthquake, it is concluded that the suspected damaged area of houses in the earthquake area accounts for at least 14.8% of the total area of the city, which greatly improves the efficiency and saves time for the state to organize earthquake relief and post-disaster reconstruction. Academician Li Deren has made outstanding contributions in the field of spatial information science and technology represented by remote sensing (RS), global positioning system (GPS) and geographic information system (GIS). Today, the whole world is using Li Deren's theory to correct its own aerial survey adjustment system.
