The legend of the pyramid
Among the seven wonders of the world, the pyramid ranks first. So far, what we know about the pyramids is just a guess.
Early pyramids were stepped, such as those in Cheops and Ha Fula, but there was a flat layer of plaster outside. The original intention of this stepped building may be to send a staircase to heaven to the late ruler.
There is also a speculation that the function of the pyramid is not only as a tomb, but also as a ceremonial building when the ruler is alive. At first, a small palace was built in front of the unfinished pyramid, where the ruler celebrated the Pharaoh's birthday for 33 years, and then every three years. During the celebration, Pharaoh wanted to prove to the ministers around him that he was a wise monarch, a brave warrior and a man with extraordinary reproductive function.
Some research experts believe that the stones in the pyramid contain a set of codes for numbers, sizes, weights, angles, temperatures, orientations, geometric problems and cosmic information, which are intrinsically related to each other. Others think it is a solar observatory. The third kind of research experts believe that pyramids have physical effects on both living and non-living things. Some people even make money from it. A businessman in California made many small gold pagodas, saying that they have the function of storing energy. In his model pyramid, grass seedlings grow fast, and dogs will get used to being vegetarian after a few days. The dentist hung 72 small gold pagodas on the operating chair, which relieved the patient's pain and the wound healed quickly. Romania uses pyramid-shaped devices to disinfect water. It has been found that in pyramid-shaped buildings, crying children will soon be quiet, patients will sleep soundly, women's menstrual bleeding will be reduced, people's minds will be clear, and sexual function will be improved.
At first, when archaeologists opened the coffin of Pharaoh Cheops for the first time, they only found a small statue without a mummy, which was a great disappointment. In the archaeological history of Egypt, only the mummy of Tutankhamun who died young at the age of 18 was found. The mummies of other pharaohs in the ancient kingdom have not been found so far. In addition, whether there was a mummy in the coffin was a big problem. Egyptian culture is famous for its mystery. Pharaoh should ascend to heaven after his death, so the priest quietly moved his body to another place. To support this speculation, archaeologists found in a cave near the Nile that almost all the mummies of Pharaoh in the New Kingdom were preserved there, and 20 mummies were piled together like firewood, while their coffins were empty.
Were the pyramids built by slaves? Not exactly. The ancient Egyptians believed that Pharaoh's orders were God's will. A village inhabited by craftsmen was found near the pyramid, where thousands of craftsmen lived and the accommodation conditions were completely guaranteed. Judging from this, they are hired workers, not slaves.
As the old saying goes, time is afraid of pyramids. Today, I doubt whether this sentence is correct. Egyptian local authorities now not only prevent tourists from entering the pyramids and the Sphinx, but also scholars are turned away. Due to the age, the spire of the Cheops Pyramid has long been worn off, forming a small platform with an area of not less than 10 square meter. At first, foreign rich people who like to climb pyramids were held by two Arabs, and the third Arab climbed to the top of the tower with his feet. He can sit at the top of the tower and drink the coffee provided by his entourage. Nicholas II, the last czar, climbed the pyramid before he ascended the throne.
Egyptians forbade foreign scientists to dig by themselves, and a family specializing in archaeological excavations was formed in the local area. Local inspectors also pay close attention to foreign scientists and prevent them from taking what they find out of the country. The Great Pyramid continues its solemn silence.
