10 tips for shooting natural scenery
1. Make good use of water and light up the prospect.
When taking pictures at dawn or dusk, the contrast between the sky and the ground is often great. This is not balanced in composition. If you leave a water source in the foreground, the problem can be solved. Moreover, it can make the beautiful colors of the sky appear on the water. But remember, the reflection should not be brighter than the sky.
2. Emphasize the prospect of promotion
When using wide angle, look for the foreground with strong perspective (such as flowers, stones, stairs) to make the picture look wider. On the one hand, make the picture concise, on the other hand, make the picture organized. Then this method makes your picture present wonderful combinations and lines.
wait patiently
When we walk around and shoot everywhere, we often see some wonderful scenic spots and wonderful compositions. But it doesn't mean that it will be a wonderful photo before you take it now. Because a good photo is influenced by light, season and opportunity at the same time. When you see the right composition, you may wish to wait patiently for the weather to change. Or, come back in another season or the weather, wild flowers are all over the sky or yellow everywhere, which may stimulate your creation more! Remember: an excellent landscape photo may be the result of dozens of visits by photographers!
Use fog to change the foreground.
Think the prospect is not suitable? It may be a good idea to use misty fog. Fog can block many inappropriate redundant scenes, such as the modern scenery in front of ancient buildings, and make your picture cross the limitation of time and space. But please be careful not to fall into the fog! Shooting at the edge of the rock, the fog here is brighter and more transparent, and the fog can also create empty inspiration.
Leave room for the scenery
In the picture, repetition and heavy base are fatal. In complex composition, try to separate different scenes. Only in this way can the scenery stand out. On the other hand, to avoid the main scene near the border, a few centimeters can make the picture very different. Try to make a careful composition before pressing the shutter.
6. Pay attention to the edge of the picture
Most entry-level cameras can't achieve 100% view of the viewfinder, or cut the picture later, or try to reduce the factors that hinder the picture from the beginning. A few leaves, rubbish, even pedestrians, vehicles and telephone poles in the picture may hinder your composition. Waiting, or changing focus, will be the solution. Move if you can!
7. Use the equipment correctly
Tripod, suitable tripod head and level are all good assistants for photography. Please make sure to use them correctly. You can also use the tripod head of the L-shaped bracket, because it can move vertically and horizontally without turning bolts.
8. Use Shen Ting line to lead out the theme.
Guide lines are quite useful in general composition, especially in landscape photography. Using color, shape and light can form a guide line. Curves can guide the audience to enjoy beautiful scenery, while straight lines can guide movement and change.
9. Keep the composition balanced
Pay attention to the balance between light and shade when composing a composition. If some parts of the picture are too bright, please find another scene to balance it. Unless the purpose is to highlight a theme, the theme should be placed in a conspicuous place in the picture, so that the audience can pay attention to it first and then appreciate other parts slowly.
10. Use telephoto lens.
You don't have to use a wide-angle lens to shoot scenery. A new perspective can be obtained by using a telephoto lens. Especially where many people have taken pictures, you can get different compositions with long focal length.
