Four skills of correct photometry
1, spot metering:
Metering about 3% of the area in the picture is suitable for scenes with complex light and strong contrast, such as taking photos with dark tone (bright background), backlight or silhouette (bright background). When the picture is uneven, but strong contrast is needed, the spot metering mode can be used, and P4 is the exposure locking method.
2. Evaluation of measurement methods:
Evaluation metering mode Evaluation metering is the most used mode among the four modes. It divides the whole picture into several areas, then measures each area separately, and then combines the photometric value of each area with the gray scale standard of 18 degrees to calculate the exposure of the picture. The evaluation of metering mode mainly considers the exposure of the whole picture, so that every element in the picture can be expressed with better light and shadow effect.
This mode is mainly used when there is no strong light contrast between the shooting elements and the background, and the best exposure required by the picture is measured by multi-point sampling and overall operation.
3. Part of the measurement mode:
Partial metering mode Partial metering is to measure a small part of the light in the picture. When the proportion of the subject in the picture is not very large, but only occupies a local area of the picture, which has a strong contrast with the background, partial metering is the most suitable choice.
Under such light conditions, partial photometry is more accurate than evaluation photometry, and unlike spot photometry, it can only act on one point, so partial photometry is a choice between evaluation photometry and spot photometry.
4, the central key (average) measurement:
Pay attention to the proportion of photometry in the central part, and carry out balanced photometry on the whole picture, which is suitable for the main composition in the middle of portraits, close-ups and other pictures, and can highlight people and give consideration to the environment and background. This mode is often used in documentaries, news and event shooting, and it can get accurate exposure quickly.
