General situation of center

Wuhan University of Technology Biomaterials and Engineering Research Center and Hubei Biomaterials Engineering Technology Research Center are provincial engineering research centers, established in 1990. They are scientific research, production and business units integrating science, engineering and trade, and also the construction units of the national key discipline "2 1 1 engineering", with doctoral programs in materials science and biomedical engineering and mobile stations for doctors in materials science. There are 4 professors, 3 doctoral supervisors, 6 associate professors, researchers 15, more than 30 doctoral and master students, and well-known part-time professors at home and abroad 15. It has maintained close academic exchanges with academic institutions in the United States, the Netherlands, Britain, Japan, Italy, Hong Kong and other countries and regions. This field belongs to the interdisciplinary subject of material science and medicine. His main research interests are: biomedical inorganic materials, biomedical polymer materials, biomedical composite materials, tissue engineering and hybrid materials, biochemistry, molecular biology, nano-medical materials and computer design and simulation in biomedical materials.

The Center has successively undertaken major national basic research projects "973", national high-tech projects "863", major national natural fund projects, national key projects and provincial and ministerial scientific research projects, and achieved a number of scientific research achievements with international advanced level and domestic leading level. Won a number of national, provincial and ministerial awards and achievements appraisal. Obtained 10 many invention patents and utility model patents.

At present, the center has accumulated more than ten kinds of products for development, among which "bioceramic ossicular replacement prosthesis", "porous bioceramic bone filling", "absorbable bone screw" and "bioceramic middle ear ventilation and drainage tube" have obtained product registration certificates approved by the US Food and Drug Administration. In addition, there are bio-inorganic bone cement, new artificial skull, degradable ceramic drug sustained-release carrier, bone-filled ceramic artificial bone particles and other products that can be developed. The center has relatively complete equipment and laboratory conditions for the synthesis, preparation, processing and testing of biomaterials. It has become a scientific research center and industrial technology platform for developing biomedical materials and related medical devices in Hubei Province.
