How to shoot urban light and shadow

Lead: In a colorful city, it is essential for a photographer to shoot the night view of the city. The endless stream of vehicles drew ribbons. Although taking such photos is a common occurrence for enthusiasts who have mastered the camera, it is still very confusing for novices. Come and have a look with me!

Use a tripod

It is difficult to grasp the shutter at night because of insufficient light. If the shutter is too slow, the photos will be blurred, which is not as good as ordinary mobile phones. Therefore, in view of this situation, using a tripod is an effective way, so that even if it takes a long time to expose, there will be no blur caused by jitter.

hole

In most cases, the aperture should be small to create conditions for extending the exposure time. Only a long exposure can pull out the trajectory. But not too small, it will produce diffraction phenomenon and affect sharpness. So I usually set it between F/8-F/ 13;

ISO, similarly, for long exposure, the smaller the ISO, the better. I use Nikon D8 10, and the ISO is set to 64, which can basically cope with most shooting conditions.

High shot

Brightly lit cities are a common theme for many photographers. It may look dull during the day, but at night, the whole city will be brightly lit. So at this time, it is best to choose a higher position to shoot the light shadow of the city.

Composition is very important.

Even the beauty of a city's light shadow can't be described in words, but the works that don't pay attention to composition are monotonous. Therefore, especially those who take pictures of urban light and shadow, good composition will add points to the works taken.

City silhouette

When the sun is about to set on the horizon, the direct sunlight is not very strong at this time. At this time, you can try some backlight shooting. Through backlight shooting, an obvious silhouette is formed.

Low horizon shooting

When taking pictures, the position of the horizon has a very long-term impact on the effect of the picture. Putting the horizon on the lower part of the picture can highlight the main body of the picture, so when shooting the light shadow of the city, put the horizon down to highlight the effect of looking from the bottom up, so it can be used to shoot the lights on tall buildings, viaducts or beautiful skies, so that the shot picture has impact and shock.

Make good use of multiple exposures

Photography enthusiasts can also use the built-in multiple exposure function of the fuselage to increase the richness of images and the fun of shooting. For example, Nikon D7000' s built-in "multiple exposure" and "image overlapping" functions are quite interesting. However, the function of multiple exposure mode is better at dusk, but the effect is not very good. Of course, this is just my personal idea. If you are interested, you can try something else.
