synopsis

Lucasfilm Co-produced with Paramount Film Company, this is the last episode of the adventure trilogy of Indiana Jones. This is the last Indiana Jones film starring Harrison Ford. In this episode, Dr. Jones, starring Harrison Ford, and the old Jones, played by Sin Connery, join hands to pursue the whereabouts of the legendary Holy Grail of Christ. Once again, the Nazis joined in robbing the treasure in an attempt to thwart the plans of the Jones sons. In order to retrieve the Holy Grail and his father kidnapped by the Nazis, Jones spared no effort to fight the Nazis to the end, and there were dangers everywhere.

The story is set in 1938. Indiana Jones and his father searched for the Holy Grail used by the legendary Jesus at the Last Supper according to the records in their notes. Because the legendary Holy Grail has the magical effect of healing any wound, it has aroused the covet of Germany, and specially sent a beautiful female spy, Dr. Elsa Schneider, to force Jones to hand over his notes with beauty and risk. After discovering Aisha's attempt, the Jones and his son tried their best to get their notes back and go to the temple to get the Holy Grail. Unexpectedly, Yan Na shot Jones's father after him. Unexpectedly, Aisha snatched the Holy Grail before she appeared. ...

After the release of raiders of the lost ark, Steven Allan Spielberg decided to finish the last part of the trilogy to fulfill his promise to george lucas. Although "raiders of the lost ark" was a commercial success, with a global box office of over $333 million, Spielberg was always worried about depression when shooting the sequel. Because Lucas and he both had emotional problems at that time, the film became eerie, and Spielberg felt deeply guilty about this unsatisfactory work. Time flies, time flies, Spielberg has entered middle age when he decided to shoot raiders of the lost ark and The Last Crusade, and his beard and sideburns show signs of gray. The experiences of Lucas, Harrison Ford and his first father reminded him of the father-son relationship. Although the relationship between Spielberg and his father is not harmonious, he still wants to find a father for raiders of the lost ark, and describes the emotional process between father and son with the thrilling experience of looking for the Holy Grail.

In order to direct this film, Spielberg turned down the invitation of the producers of Rain Man and Leap into the Future. In the early stage of creation, the creative staff wanted to write the Monkey King and Haunted Castle, which were not adopted in the last episode, into the script, so chris columbus, who was still a screenwriter at that time, finished a script called Indiana Jones and the Monkey King, but the script was not recognized by Lucas and Spielberg in the end. Lucas once suggested taking the Holy Grail as the main line, but Spielberg initially refused because he thought it was a repetition of Mond Penden and the Holy Grail. When the idea of telling the story of father and son came into being, Spielberg began to think that the Holy Grail was a good idea, and the Holy Grail that everyone was looking for could become a symbol of reconciliation between father and son. Lucas thought the idea of the Holy Grail was a little thin, but later he found that Spielberg's father-son relationship injected more connotation into the film, and the whole story suddenly became full.

Spielberg said: "In my mind, there is only one person in the world who is qualified for this role, and that is sean connery. The role of henry jones is more suitable for him than 007. "

The film started shooting on May 6th, 1988, with a shooting budget of $36 million. Shooting locations include Venice, Jordan, Australia, Germany and Colorado, New Mexico, Texas and Utah. According to Spielberg's shooting plan, the first thing to shoot is the tank chase. The scene completed in almeria was originally scheduled to take only two days, and it was a small bridge with little pen and ink. But Spielberg made full use of the storyboard, which developed into a bright spot full of action scenes. In the end, this 10 minute scene took two weeks to shoot, and the crew * * * built two tanks, one of which was smaller, and only the top half of the tank was close-up.

After shooting in Spain for three weeks, the crew returned to Elstree Studio to shoot a lot of interiors. Because of the high temperature in the studio, Connery and Ford did not wear pants when filming the conversation at the dinner table in the airship. Before shooting the catacombs, the crew kept 2000 rats in isolation to avoid the epidemic, and used 1000 robot rats in the later shooting.

In order to shoot the scene of speedboat chase, the crew once blocked the Venice Grand Canal for six hours.

When the temple began to crack, the sound effect was mixed with the sound of rubbing balloons.

Sean connery's role as the father of Jones became a joke in the circle, because James Bond became the father of Indiana Jones, and Steven Allan Spielberg always wanted to direct James Bond movies. In his eyes, Jones is a Bond figure.

Spielberg likes this movie best among the Indiana Jones trilogy.

The two tanks used in the shooting are now kept in Disney/MGM Studio in Disney World, Florida.

When preparing to shoot the mouse scene in the catacombs, the producer asked the Firefighters' Fund Insurance Company whether the mice in the film should be insured, because they may delay shooting because of illness, accidents or unwillingness to perform, and every day of delay will cause hundreds of thousands of dollars in losses. Experts from the insurance company learned from the director that filming requires at least 1000 mice, so they drafted and signed the world's first insurance policy for 1000 mice.

It was Harrison Ford who recommended River Phoenix to play Jones as a teenager.

The idea of using airships to mount aircraft actually originated from two large airships of the US Navy, the U. s. Akron and the U.S. Macon, which are slightly smaller than the led zeppelin in the film, and can mount four small planes on their bellies for reconnaissance missions, which are aircraft carriers in the air. Before the famous Hindenburg airship was burned down in 1937, its builder tried to install the same pylon with the help of the navy to mount a small plane carrying mail, but the pilot could not complete the docking and the test was forced to cancel.

When the film crew was filming in Petra, Jordan, the Jordanian royal family visited the studio.
