Yuanmingyuan, also known as Yuanming Sanyuan, is a large-scale royal garden in the Qing Dynasty. It is located in the northwest suburb of Beijing, adjacent to the Summer Palace, and consists of Yuanmingyuan Garden, Changchun Garden and Qichun Garden, so it is also called Yuanming Sanyuan. 1860101On October 6th, the British and French allied forces looted Yuanmingyuan, looted cultural relics and burned it. When Emperor Tongzhi tried to repair them, he was forced to stop and rebuild other buildings because of financial difficulties. After Eight-Nation Alliance, it was attacked by bandits and eventually turned into ruins. The picture shows the west side of Haiyan Hall photographed by Charles Frederick Moore near 1877. At this time, the main structure of Haiyan Hall is still well preserved.
