Dongwan Village is a natural village, located 6 kilometers southeast of Zhaihe Town, Guangshan County, at the northern foot of Dabie Mountain. It belongs to Datang Village, Zhaihe Township, Guangshan County, and is located in a flat land on the south bank of Huaihe River. Dongwan village was originally an unknown remote village. As these ancient trees are exposed to the outside world, people come to visit them in an endless stream. These ancient trees are all chestnut trees. There are hundreds of chestnut trees in front of and behind the village, most of which have a history of thousands of years. A thousand-year-old tree has formed a unique charm in Baili Pingchuan, adding a strong historical and cultural atmosphere to this ordinary small village. It also brings a historical question to people: how did they escape the logging of 1958 "Dagang"? Older people say that five or eight years ago, ancient trees like this were everywhere here, and the rest were left by villagers ... ancient chestnut trees, which were fruitful every autumn, filled the whole village with the smell of chestnuts. Over the years, the villagers have planted a large number of chestnut trees, a forest of chestnut orchards, and wrapped the village in shade. Under the green trees, chickens, ducks, cattle and sheep, working farmers, and kitchen smoke are scattered. What a primitive countryside! It is understood that the two villagers' groups of Dongwan Village and Dongcaiyuan Village of the Millennium Chestnut Tree Group cover an area of more than 800 mu, with more than 500 mu of contiguous forest. According to the local villagers' inventory, there are 26 ancient chestnut trees over 1000 years old and 156 trees over 400 years old. The oldest tree is about 3 meters in diameter at breast height, and it needs five people to join hands to surround it. It is about 20 meters high and has a crown area of 700 square meters. It is called the king of trees. There are more than 200 ancient chestnut trees around, all about 2 meters thick. In recent years, the local government has strengthened the protection of ancient trees and promoted the development of rural tourism and industry.
