Peng's photo story.

After five campaigns to resist US aggression and aid Korea, the volunteers held a very important meeting. Zhang, a war correspondent, walked into the conference room and wanted to take a photo of Peng, commander and political commissar of the Volunteers. When he raised his camera at him, he was rejected by Mr. Peng: "What do I have to shoot in Peng? Don't highlight me personally, leave the film to the volunteer soldiers! " Zhang was criticized and left the meeting angrily.

During the break of the meeting, Chen Geng, deputy commander of the Volunteers, came to comfort him and said with a camera, "Don't be sad, I'll shoot it for you." Boss Peng saw the assistant commander taking pictures of him. Although he couldn't refuse, he looked serious and sulked all the time, but he didn't answer in the end. Later, Zhang Cai learned that many old photographers were "turned away" when taking pictures of Mr. Peng.

Soon, at a party organization meeting held by the Political Department of the Volunteers, a comrade said: "Comrade Peng is the commander of the Volunteers, and the people of China and the world are eager to see his image on the battlefield. Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China and some central newspapers and periodicals also asked us to provide materials and photos. " General Gan Siqi, deputy political commissar of the Volunteers, conveyed this opinion to Mr. Peng, and Mr. Peng's attitude changed.

One day, Peng came to the front committee to inspect Shangganling position with great interest. Zhang immediately rushed to the position after learning the news. Seeing that boss Peng and the soldiers were laughing very relaxed, he quickly took out his camera and prepared to take pictures. Mr. Peng recognized the Zhang he had criticized and said with a smile, "Oh, it's you again, little reporter. Do whatever you want today! " Zhang seized the opportunity to press the shutter and took this photo.

I worked with Zhang for many years, and he provided this photo. The negative of this photo is now in the military museum.
