Scenery photography shooting skills
Collection of landscape photography skills about lens;
Of course, it is not enough to use only a wide-angle lens, at least the focal length of 16 mm-400 mm should be covered. Although a wide-angle lens is a common lens, a medium telephoto is also essential. Also, we can't ignore the role of tripod, because tripod is comparable to a good lens, which increases stability and ensures image quality. The following are my usual equipment:
? Fuselage:
Canon 5D2 (Quan Huafu can guarantee excellent picture quality)
? Lens:
16-35, 24-70, 70-200, magnifying glass 2X (big three yuan, covering ordinary focal length, magnifying glass, used to make up for the lack of focal length, can increase the focal length to 400MM, the image quality will be lost, but the purchase budget will be reduced).
? Tripod:
Bainuo carbon fiber tripod is light, which can ensure firmness and portability.
Equipment display diagram
? Medium telephoto lens:
The telephoto lens can effectively eliminate the deformation of the object, shorten the distance of the subject and find its own visual center. Used well, it can reflect a photographer's unique perspective. Because the telephoto lens is heavy and the focal length is long, it is easy to shake. Try to use a tripod when shooting. After using the tripod, it is best to turn off the anti-shake function of the lens, especially in the case of long exposure.
This movie was shot in Nian Lake, and it is still one of my favorite movies. Although there is not too much emphasis on composition, because this photo was taken. At that time, I heard the sound of a crane. Looking back, a solitary crane just flew over the moon, so I quickly raised my camera and stopped the picture.
We should get rid of the idea that it is not only a wide-angle lens that can shoot scenery films, but a wide-angle lens is just one of all necessary lenses. If conditions permit, you should take all the lenses with you when shooting scenery films.

Shot by a medium telephoto lens
These are all landscape photos I took with a medium telephoto lens.
About the weather:
When it is difficult
During the filming of the ancestral temple, it suddenly began to rain, so I took shelter under the eaves. I looked at the raindrops outside and took this angle. Unfortunately, the rain was too small and the rain was not obvious.
temple
Shooting parameters:
Shooting mode: automatic exposure with aperture priority
Television (shutter speed): 1/80
Av (aperture value): 2.8
Photometric mode: evaluating luminosity
Exposure compensation:-1/3
ISO:400
Lens: EF70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM
Focal length: 200.0 mm
Writing skills: in writing, we must pay attention to finding a good prospect. I used eaves lines in the foreground. Show the unique line beauty of ancient buildings.
Lighting skills: to evaluate photometry, it is best to shoot with surround exposure, because this can preserve the details of the eaves and ensure that the rain outside is not exposed. Of course, RAW format shooting can also be adjusted later. Due to the dark light under the eaves, it is difficult to reflect the texture of the eaves by taking only one photo.
Choice of focal length: In the choice of lens, I chose a focal length of 200MM, trying to see the big from the small and emphasizing the moment when raindrops fall.
Note: Because it is inconvenient to walk around the ancestral temple with a tripod, I can only improve ISO to improve the shutter speed. In the case of 200MM end, the shutter of 1/80 is not safe and fast enough. At this time, I must find a support point. I leaned against the post and took this photo.
The ancestral temple where the rain has just finished.
In addition, the color and texture of the building will be good on rainy days. Don't be afraid of rainy days. In fact, in rainy days, there will be another charm. The above film was also taken by the ancestral temple, and it just rained.
Strong winds and rainy days
Jiankou Great Wall
Shooting parameters:
Shooting mode: automatic exposure with aperture priority
Television (shutter speed): 1/80
Average aperture value: 8.0
Photometric mode: evaluating luminosity
Exposure compensation:-1/3
ISO: 100
Lens: EF70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM
Focal length:160.0mm.
Composition skills: In composition, the atmosphere and founder can better express the sense of Cang Sang in history, and there is no need to pursue any innovative angle. The foreground is dominated by the lines of the Great Wall, dotted with peaks and fire platforms, and the lines of the mountains behind are looming in the clouds, which looks ethereal and heavy.
Lighting skills: Because it is rainy, in terms of exposure, use evaluation photometry,-1/3 exposure, and keep more fog details. If the exposure is not reduced, fog may be overexposed.
Choice of focal length: I chose the focal length of 160MM to shoot, which can effectively narrow the distance between the mountain behind and the Great Wall and get rid of the messy scenes.
Note: In rainy days, in order to prevent jitter, try to use a tripod and shoot in RAW format for later adjustment. In the later period, black and white tones were adopted, and the layers were superimposed after Gao Fancha was preserved, so as to preserve the details and heavy feeling of the Great Wall. In addition, pay attention to the shutter speed, so as to ensure the shape of the fog. Because the shutter is too slow, the fog will turn into silk.
sunny day
On sunny days, due to the temperature difference between morning and evening, the lake in Jiang Xiaodong is foggy every morning. When the sun rises, the sunlight penetrates through the cracks in the trees, and there will be charming scattered light, which is what the photographer calls Jesus light.
Jiang Xiaodong
Shooting parameters:
Shooting mode: automatic exposure with aperture priority
Television (shutter speed): 1/400
Average aperture value: 8.0
Photometric mode: evaluating luminosity
Exposure compensation:-1/3
ISO: 100
Lens: EF70-200mm aperture
Focal length: 70.0 mm
Composition skills: Three-point composition method, the water surface accounts for one third, and then yellows at the golden section, which can not only attract the eye, but also show the charming scattered light well.
Light skills: scattered light is the so-called Jesus light. This light is hard to touch. When this charming light appears, you have to shoot against the light to capture it. Evaluate photometry, reduce one-step exposure, and ensure that fog is not overexposed.
Choice of focal length: Because the river is a little far from the bridge, if you use a wide angle, the picture will be too scattered. I wanted to highlight the boat and the charming light, so I chose a focal length of 70 mm
Note: At present, Jiang Xiaodong boatmen work at a fixed time, so they don't have to go to the boatmen themselves, and they are experienced and know what route to take. You just need to focus on shooting. In addition, the post-processing should try not to increase the contrast, otherwise the fog will definitely be overexposed. Pay attention in the early stage of shooting.
title
It's also a film of scattered light, and it's also taken against the light, in northern Guangxi. The same composition method, using a wide-angle lens to explain the environment, put the two children in the golden section.
sunny day
It was sunny this morning, and the film was shot before sunrise. The color before sunrise is the most charming time. The transition from orange to blue will create a quiet atmosphere.
Dahaizi
Shooting parameters:
Shooting mode: manual exposure
TV (shutter speed): 5 seconds
Average aperture value: 8.0
Photometric mode: evaluating luminosity
Exposure compensation: 0
ISO: 100
Lens: EF24-70mm f/2.8L USM
Focal length: 70.0 mm
Composition skills: Symmetrical composition method In fact, symmetrical composition method is best used when there is reflection on the water surface. This composition method is used here to compare the color of the sky with the quiet lake. The top of the film shows the color of the sky. The bottom shows the lines of water and the quiet atmosphere, while the two cranes on the right embellish the picture.
Lighting skills: measure the light in the sky first, and then measure the light on the ground. After knowing the light metering time in the sky, manually adjust the exposure time, which is based on the ground exposure time, and then shake the black card to shoot. Keep shaking the black card to block the highlights, remove the black card within the countdown of the sky exposure time, and balance the upper and lower exposures.
Choice of focal length: 70MM focal length is chosen because wide angle can't reflect the lines of lakes and peaks well. Choosing this focal segment can preserve the breadth and beauty of the picture to a certain extent.
Note: When shooting with the black card shaking method, it is best to use it before sunrise or after sunset, because there is enough time for you to shake the black card during this time.
foggy day
Composition skills: three-point composition method, because there are no clouds in the sky, so the focus is on fog and grass. The foreground is a few trees in front of you, and the background is a faint mountain love. Under the rendering of fog, it is like a fairyland. And fog can cover up a lot of messy elements.
Bashangbeigou
Shooting parameters:
Shooting mode: automatic exposure with aperture priority
Television (shutter speed): 1/20
Av (aperture value): 9.0
Photometric mode: evaluating luminosity
Exposure compensation: 0
ISO: 100
Lens: EF 16-35mm f/2.8L II USM.
Focal length:16.0mm.
Lighting skills: it is best to shoot before the sun rises, because the texture of fog will be displayed to a greater extent at this time, and try to make the fog exposure normal when exposed.
Choice of focal length: In the choice of lens, the ultra-wide angle of 16MM is adopted to show the shape of mountains and fog as much as possible.
Note: When shooting in foggy days, the weather requirements are actually very high. Only when there is no wind can you photograph the layers and lines of fog. If the wind blows, the fog will be blown away. This photo was taken after waiting for a week of fine weather on the dam. There is no wind, and the sun is shining. What if there is wind? If there is wind, we can only wait, and when the fog blows away, it begins to fog again. At this time, you should seize this moment. If the wind blows away the fog again later, you can only look at the fog and sigh.
cloudy
Actually, many photographers like cloudy weather. Because cloudy weather will produce beautiful light and shadow effects, this is called regional light.
Bashang Maoershan
Shooting parameters:
Shooting mode: automatic exposure with aperture priority
Television (shutter speed): 1/200
Av (aperture value): 10.0
Photometric mode: evaluating luminosity
Exposure compensation: -2/3
ISO: 100
Lens: EF70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM
Focal length:142.0mm.
Composition skills: when I took this photo, I made a picture in advance, and more importantly, I had to wait and capture light and shadow. The clouds are moving fast and the light is changing all the time. I waited for almost half an hour to take this photo. In this area, I saw a film that was quickly captured by the light. At this time, the light gave the grass a silky feeling.
Lighting skills: evaluate photometry, reduce two-step exposure, keep highlight details as much as possible, and enhance contrast.
Choice of focal length: Choose the focal length of 143MM, and Maoershan is higher. After climbing to the top, use the telephoto lens to find the picture you need.
Note: Because the light changes quickly, if you have no confidence in capturing the moment, you can take more pictures and choose again when you come back.
cloudy day
Composition skills: three-point composition method, because the clouds in the sky are beautiful, so the focus is on the sky, the sky accounts for two-thirds, the water surface accounts for one-third, and several trees in the lake decorate the picture.
Nianhu
Shooting parameters:
Shooting mode: manual exposure
Television (shutter speed): 1/4
Av (aperture value): 1 1.0
Photometric mode: evaluating luminosity
ISO: 100
Lens: EF 16-35mm f/2.8L II USM.
Focal length:16.0mm.
Lighting skills: Backlight shooting, I measured the sky and the ground separately, and then took two photos by manual exposure, in order to better keep the exposure of the sky and the water consistent. Of course, it can also be achieved by adding filters or peripheral exposure.
Choice of focal length: use a wide-angle lens to show the magnificence of clouds.
Shanwei windmill island
Note: flaming clouds, this kind of weather is the photographer's dream scenery, can only say that it is impossible to meet. In the afternoon when this photo was taken, on a cloudy day, I was ready to pack my equipment and go back, but I was unwilling. As a result, after ten minutes, it was all red clouds. So you must learn to wait when shooting scenery. Flaming clouds don't last long, usually only ten minutes. When shooting, be careful not to get too excited and seize the opportunity. Because when you are excited, you will waste it. The same film above is also a flaming cloud after a cloudy day. Photographed in Shanwei Windmill Island.
a burst
Nianhu
Shooting parameters:
Shooting mode: automatic exposure with aperture priority
TV (shutter speed): 30 seconds
Av (aperture value): 1 1.0
Photometric mode: evaluating luminosity
Exposure compensation: 0
ISO: 100
Lens: EF24-70mm f/2.8L USM
Focal length: 24.0 mm
Composition skills: the middle composition method is adopted, with the water surface as the dividing line and the front tree as the guiding line below, and the water surface is in a calm state of long-term exposure. The black-necked crane flew over the sky overhead, embellishing the picture, which brought the feeling of combining static and dynamic to the picture.
Lighting skills: Before the sun comes out, the color temperature is low, and the photos will show charming blue tones. Use black card technology to expose photos, so that the picture exposure is balanced. Focus clip selection:
Choice of focal length: The wide-angle focal length of 24MM was chosen, which showed the vastness of the lake and the openness of the sky. The small trees in front played a guiding role with the wide-angle deformation function.
Note: it is impossible to capture the posture of birds under such a long exposure time. This is my second composite photo. Because birds don't fly in the sky, such a gesture is easy to capture. In the later synthesis, we should pay attention to the size ratio of birds and the position of guide lines, which echo the trees below.
Minor Snow
Composition skills: triangle composition method. Triangle composition method is the most stable composition method, which can make people's vision not lose balance. The posture of trees and people just forms a stable triangle, and the people who walk just embellish the picture, leaving a blank space at the top left, giving people room for imagination.
Wusong island
Shooting parameters:
Shooting mode: automatic exposure with aperture priority
Television (shutter speed): 1/320
Av (aperture value): 9.0
Photometric mode: evaluating luminosity
Exposure compensation: 2/3
ISO:200
Lens: EF24-70mm f/2.8L USM
Focal length: 25.0 mm
Lighting skills: Side backlight shooting can well preserve the blue of the sky and the golden color of the sun sprinkled on the fog. On top of the exposure, add file exposure, because when white takes up most of the picture, you should add file exposure to make the snow exposure normal.
Choice of focal length: Choose a wide-angle focal length of 24MM, which can well show the posture of the tree and the sense of openness of the sky, and let pedestrians feel drifting away through perspective.
Note: When shooting snow scenes, the biggest problems are human body insulation and camera moistureproof. Be sure to walk around more when shooting, and don't stay in the same place for too long, otherwise your hands and feet will be frostbitten. The camera should be wrapped in a heat preservation bag before it is ready to enter or leave the room. Turn on the camera after it is synchronized with the indoor temperature. If you want to see the photos, take out the CF card directly, and don't look at the camera indoors. If there is no heat preservation bag, the easiest way is to use plastic bags. If the lens gets wet accidentally, remove the UV mirror and the front and back covers of the lens and put them in the drying oven for a few days, and the problem can be solved.
Practice is the most important
Postscript: After reading the tutorial, the most important thing is practice. When shooting, you need to think more about what you want to express and what kind of composition method you use to present your artistic conception. Also pay attention to the direction and change of light, and what effect different light will have on your film. I think you should make it clear before shooting, so that the film will be more perfect.
