Introduction to film and television photography and production specialty

The major of film and television photography and production is a newly-built specialty in Film and Television College. Referring to the American film education system and combining the teaching characteristics of our college, this major adopts the concept of "film production" to form an overall teaching system of photography, directing, recording and editing, and provides professional education for students. The first two years focus on the general education on the professional platform, and the second two years focus on the special intensive education in the professional direction, which will help students fully understand the film and television major and strive to cultivate professionals with optimized practical creative ability.

The major of film and television photography and production adheres to the fine teaching tradition of Shanghai Theatre Academy, emphasizing that everything should be based on the actual requirements of the industry's creation and production, starting from the actual employment situation of students, taking the principle of "emphasizing the foundation and broadening the major", taking "picture production" (including photography/video and 2D/3D multimedia stunt production) and "sound production" as two basic teaching objectives, and aiming at cultivating film and television creation and production talents with Director Of Thinking consciousness, directing ability and skills. In terms of specialty construction and curriculum setting, it truly embodies the characteristics of "one specialty and many functions" (directing, editing, photography and recording) and "paying attention to creative practical skills".

The major of film and television photography and production has the 1 laboratory "Basic Teaching Laboratory of Film and Television Production" jointly established by the central and local governments, and the 1 key laboratory "Television Audio and Video Laboratory" jointly established by the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission. At the same time, we will cooperate with major domestic film and television creation and production institutions to jointly build a student teaching practice base and a teacher creation practice base. Especially the first-class professors Hu Xuehua, Hou Yong, Zhan Xin, Gao Ziyi and distinguished professor Wu Siyuan, Peggy Chiao and Jiang Wen.
