Macro Photography —— Several Insects Collecting Honey

The insects heard the news when the flowers were in full bloom. Before, I was far away from nature, and all I could think about was the stereotype of bees gathering honey. Through macro photography, I really saw many insects coming to collect honey.

Once in the grass, I observed a very small insect named Syrphidae, flying back and forth in the breeze, sometimes hovering in the air, and finally flying above a dandelion flower. I turned on the macro mode and found that the insect was very bright in color, with a black and yellow grid on its back and a pair of wings as thin as cicadas, shining with fluorescence. It looks in harmony with the yellow dandelion flower. The posture of the syrphid collecting honey is elegant, only to see that it grasps the petals with its tiny hind legs to stabilize its body, and then collects pollen with its front legs, which is leisurely, elegant and light. Sometimes it will fly to the grass and stop to rest. Because it is very focused and won't notice the interference of my shooting, it is easy to take good photos. The flying skills of syrphids are superb. The slender body can hover with wings in strong winds, and the posture is stable when flying, which can quickly change the flight direction, which is amazing. Later, I observed another kind of syrphid fly collecting honey from morning blooming morning glory. This syrphid fly is also slim, and its abdomen is decorated with black and yellow stripes. Its wings shine like a rainbow in the sun, and its body is particularly slim. In macro mode, it is easy to observe the way its yellow front legs catch the blooming of trumpet flowers, and it also has a pair of short antennae on its head. It is a pleasure to watch syrphids collect honey, because it is always so elegant and calm.

Compared with syrphids, bees are not so beautiful. Bees are round and a little shaky when flying. It stayed near the big stamen of Mei for a while, and then plunged into it like a savage. In an instant, the originally arranged flowers were in a mess, and pollen was sprinkled on the petals from time to time. Bees are covered with yellow pollen, as if they were having a happy pollen bath. After a rampage, the bee's hind legs were covered with thick yellow pollen, only to see it slowly retreat from the messy scene, flap its wings and fly, and embark on a journey home.

In addition, I also observed a stout wooden bee, much bigger than a bee, with a furry chest like wearing a fur coat, a shiny black stone in the abdomen and two slender tentacles on the top of the head. Mufeng's body shape belongs to a large species of Apiidae. People will never ignore its appearance, even if they don't see it often or occasionally, it is difficult to shoot it, because its flight path is irregular, and it always stays on a flower for a second and then flies away, and then does the same thing on the next flower. You wonder what it's going to do. Only once, I finally caught a scene of Mufeng picking honey. Reckless actions are even worse than bees. The process of collecting honey is always in a hurry, as if there are enemies chasing after it, which makes people look unattractive.

Insects are the largest animal group on the earth, accounting for more than 50% of all biological species. It's interesting to observe insects. Although we don't know where syrphids and bees are busy all day, we can see them running around tirelessly for their own survival and that of the next generation. Naturally, we think that small insects also have tenacious vitality. Whether it is elegant or reckless from the perspective of human beings, they are all working hard and contributing their own strength to nature.

Actually, I'm not interested in the specific biological knowledge of insects. I just want to observe and understand them from my own curiosity, appreciate their exquisite structure, beautiful patterns and interesting behavior patterns, so as to close the distance between me and nature. When I go outdoors, I will naturally look at the sky, clouds, trees, flowers and insects. Even in the city, I can find places where I can observe nature with infinite fun. We are not far from nature, all we need is to go out. Even if it is a sea of flowers and a meadow, there is infinite vitality waiting for you.
