The unfinished film "Ode to Occupy"

In 1976, Changchun Film Studio began filming the color feature film "Ode to Occupation". The film is adapted from the play of the same name performed by Shenyang Repertory Theater.

Wang Feng, one of the directors of the film "Ode to Occupation," is a new generation of literary and artistic workers trained in the revolutionary melting pot of the army. At the end of 1949, he joined the then Northeast Film Studio and later the Changchun Film Studio as an actor. The first film Wang Feng starred in was "Iron Warrior". However, the screen image that audiences will remember most is the classic film "Dong Cunrui", in which Wang Feng played Dong Cunrui's comrade Wang Haishan.

In 1958, under the arrangement of the organization, Wang Feng came to the Shanghai Theater Theater to study directing. While at school, not only drama master Huang Zuolin, but also famous film actors Zhao Dan and Zhang Ruifang gave him lessons. Wang Feng also learned a lot of film knowledge and performing arts from them. After graduating and returning to the factory, Wang Feng began to work as an assistant director and participated in the filming of films such as "In the Clouds and Mist Mountains" and "Kunlun Iron Cavalry". In 1975, Wang Feng independently directed the film "Eagle in the Sky" for the first time, which reflected the war to resist U.S. aggression and aid Korea.

In 1976, Changchun Film Studio was under tremendous pressure, because at this time, Beijing Film Studio and Shanghai Film Studio successively produced socially influential films such as "Break" and "Spring Sprouts" . At this time, the eight plays "Ode to Occupation" created by Shenyang Repertory Theater and other units in the 1975 Literary Performance of Liaoning Province created a huge sensation, so Changying Film Studio decided without hesitation to put the play of the same name on the screen. Wang Feng and He Keren are the directors of the film.

The plot of this film takes place in 1971, when a medical school in the north actively implemented the party's education policy and called on teachers and students to open schools in pastoral areas. Under the leadership of Comrade Zhan Feng, member of the party committee and deputy captain of the work propaganda team, a medical and educational team was organized to go deep into the pastoral area and recruit local female barefoot doctors to enrich the team. He also treated diseases and saved lives for the poor herdsmen who lacked medical treatment and medicine. In this line struggle, Zhan Feng kept the party's teachings in mind, influenced, helped, and transformed a small number of teachers and students, improved their ideological consciousness, and uncovered the stories of class enemies hidden among the people.

The main creative staff of the film finally took shape after repeated revisions of the script. On the basis of retaining the original cast members of Shenyang Repertory Theater, the actor Zhan Feng is still played by Lu Xiaohe (played by Liang Sanxi in "Wreaths Under the Mountain").

The film "Ode to Occupation" not only increases the length of the portrayal of the Mongolian barefoot female doctor, but also hopes to be played by Mongolian actors. Comrades from the Changying Studio asked around and finally learned that Siqin Gaowa, a dancer and announcer from the Inner Mongolia Song and Dance Troupe in Hohhot, was suitable for the characters in the play, both in terms of image and temperament. In fact, at that time, the famous director Tang Xiaodan of the Shanghai Film Studio was preparing to shoot a color feature film "Motherland, Motherland", and the screenwriter was the Mongolian writer Malaqinfu. In order to play the role of a maid in the film, Siqingaowa has sent her photos and information to Shanghai Film Studio, but has yet to receive a reply.

After strict screening and repeated consideration, director Wang Feng finally decided to cast Siqin Gaowa as the heroine Aluo Tanqi.

Although Siqingaowa successfully played the role of a "worker, peasant, and soldier" college student who grew up in a pastoral area in the feature film "Ode to Occupy" produced by Changchun Film Studio in 1976, all the scenes of the film were shot. Preparing for post-production. He died with the crushing of the "Gang of Four" and the end of the "Cultural Revolution".

This is a pity for Siqingaowa, who is filming a movie for the first time. However, it is not a bad thing to reflect on it today. The film "Ode to Occupy" itself is of little value, but Siqingaowa completed a film acting training through it, which prepared her for her outstanding performance in her future famous work "Homecoming". A solid foundation has been laid.
