Wang, an expert in aerial photogrammetry and remote sensing, 1909 was born on February 6, 2009 in Dongfeng Town (now Ninghe County, Tianjin). 1932 graduated from Shanghai Jiaotong University. 1939 received a doctorate in engineering from the Technical University of Berlin, Germany. 1980 was elected as an academician of China Academy of Sciences. He used to be honorary president and professor of Wuhan Surveying and Mapping University, president of Shanghai Jiaotong University and vice president of Wuhan Institute of Surveying and Mapping. In the 1940s, it made an important contribution to stereo mapping technology. In 1950s, the formula for solving relative directional elements of aerial photography in undulating areas was derived, and the mapping method of aerial survey and the formula for estimating the accuracy of aerial triangulation were also derived, which provided a theoretical basis for production. In 1960s, the encryption theory and scheme of analytic aerial triangulation were put forward. In 1970s, the idea of "full digital automatic mapping" was put forward. It took 15 years to realize the fundamental change of photogrammetry and reach the international advanced level in the 1990s. His representative works include The Principle of Photogrammetry and The Continuation of the Principle of Photogrammetry. Won the first prize of scientific and technological progress of the State Education Commission, the second prize of the National Natural Science Award 1993 and the Chen Jiageng Earth Science Award 1997.
