Nikon releases firmware upgrade to solve D4/D800/D800E "crash" problem.

Nikon released new firmware upgrades for D4 and D800/D800E. Among them, the A and B firmware of D4 is upgraded to Ver. 1.0 1, and only the B firmware of D800/D800E is upgraded to Ver. 1.0 1. The new firmware fixes some camera failures, including problems that may cause the camera to "crash".

Last month, some users reported that D4/D800/D800E cameras sometimes "crashed" in use. Even if the power is turned off, the camera can no longer work. The battery must be removed and reinstalled. There is no fixed premise for this phenomenon. Nikon said that they would provide a "permanent solution".

DPReview released the comparative evaluation of Nikon D800 and D800E.

Nikon D800 has been highly appraised in DPReview evaluation and DxO sensor test. The D800E weakens the low-pass filter, claiming that the performance of further improving the image quality is different from that of D800, which is also a concern of many people. DPReview now adds a comparison with D800E in the D800 evaluation.

Comparison of laboratory resolution

To get the best resolution, you naturally need to shoot with the best aperture of the lens. Under a large aperture, the aberration of the lens will affect the resolution, and when the aperture is reduced to a certain extent, the diffraction phenomenon will appear again. This means: "Although the resolution of D800E is always higher than that of D800 in theory, the difference is not always so obvious."

The following is a set of screenshots of resolution board 100% taken in the studio. Nikon AF-S 50mm f/ 1.4G lens was used in the test, and all photos were in RAW files. The best aperture of this lens is f/4-4.5.

In f/2.8, the slight blur caused by lens aberration narrows the gap between D800E and D800. In fact, you probably can't see the difference between the two in real shooting. Only around f/4-f/5.6, the difference between the two models is obvious. The contrast of D800E display is better, but at the cost of more moire fringes.

F/8, the gap between D800E and D800 narrows again, and the blur caused by diffraction can already be seen in D800E's photos. At f/ 1 1, D800E only shows very slight high contrast, but at f/ 16, there is almost no difference between them.

Of course, any other form of blur-machine vibration, subject movement, out-of-focus and even the influence of air-has similar effects to the above test. So the conclusion is:

"Although the D800E does have a higher resolution, you can only see this difference in a specific aperture range and under perfect shooting conditions and technology."

Real shot resolution contrast

The following is the resolution comparison in outdoor real shooting. The AF-S 50mm f/ 1.4G lens was also used, and the shooting was compared under the optimal aperture F/4.5 of the lens and the common setting F/ 16 of landscape photographers.

Both cameras used for comparison use tripod, mirror pre-lift and 3s delay shutter to minimize vibration. RAW files are processed with ACR 7, and sharpening and noise reduction are both 0. A convert. Photos are sharpened with standard USM in Photoshop (100%, 0.06, 0).

Both cameras show good resolution. Show better details at f/4.5-the best aperture-D800e; In the second comparison, the difference between the two cameras is very small. Under f/ 16, it is difficult for you to point out that one photo is better than the other.

acute

Another test here is to further sharpen the D800 to see if it can achieve the same result as the D800E. In the comparison chart below, the photos of D800 have been sharpened by additional USM (250%, 0.3,0).

In the above screenshot of a low contrast scene, D800 easily handled such high-intensity sharpening. But the following screenshot-a scene with higher contrast, more diagonal lines and obvious halos and jaggies-is a typical over-sharpening feature.

However, it should be noted that the house scene in the screenshot above is only a small part of the original picture:

"Overall, for most users, D800 is not much worse than D800E (before extra sharpening)."

Nikon announced that nikkor lens's total output exceeded 70 million.

Nikon announced that by the end of May 20 12, the total output of interchangeable lens cameras in nikkor lens had exceeded 70 million. In addition, the total output of AF-S lenses equipped with Nikon's self-developed autofocus motor-still wave motor (SWM) also exceeds 30 million.

* Includes interchangeable lenses for Nikon digital SLR cameras and Nikon 1 interchangeable lens digital cameras.

70 million nikkor lens.

Nicole is a Nikon lens brand. 1933, Nikon introduced the first nikkor lens for aerial photography. Since then, based on Nikon's unique high-end exquisite technology, a lens suitable for digital SLR cameras has been developed. Last year, Nikon introduced the Nikon 1 series with interchangeable lenses and its special 1 nikkor lens series. Nikkor lens 1 is incredibly light and compact, suitable for small Nikon 1 cameras, and carries the optical technology, ultra-high image quality and advanced technology developed by Nikon for many years. 1 nikkor lens can be used to take clear still photos and animations. Moreover, its telescopic lens device also makes the overall size of the lens smaller and easier to carry.

From 20 1 1 to 10, the total output of nikkor lens reached 65 million tablets. Since then, Nikon has continued to actively research and develop new products under the Nicole brand, and launched four 1 nikkor lens with simple design and rich colors; This lens is perfectly combined with Nikon 1 J 1 and Nikon 1 V 1, so it is small and portable. In addition, the new nikkor lens compatible with FX format can be matched with Nikon's new flagship model D4 or high-pixel model D800/D800E equipped with 36.3 million effective pixel image sensors, which can maximize the potential of exciting high-performance cameras.

30 million nikkor lens, with silent wave motor.

The stationary wave motor (SWM) is an ultrasonic autofocus motor developed by Nikon, which can convert "traveling wave" into rotational energy, thus completing optical focusing. In autofocus, its operation is extremely stable, smooth and comfortable. Among the first generation lenses equipped with this motor, the Ai AF-S Nikkor 300mm f/2.8D IF-ED lens introduced by 1996 is included. Since then, the quiet wave motor has been widely used in a total of 60 kinds of lenses, including DX and FX lenses with super wide angle and super telephoto, zoom lenses and macro lenses of various lens types. At present, as many as 90% of the nikkor lens products used in Nikon SLR digital cameras are equipped with silent fluctuation motors.

* The total number of nikkor lens types equipped with silent wave motors at present (as of June 20 12, 14).

Nikkor lens has been favored and sought after from novice photographers to experienced professional users. In the future, Nikon will, as always, continue to develop and expand the lineup of Nichols series and produce products that consumers trust.

Nicole brand introduction

As a lens brand owned by Nikon, Nicole has become synonymous with high-performance, high-quality single-mirror reflex camera lens. The brand name of "NIKKOR" is to add an "R" after "Nikko"-the English abbreviation of NIPPON KOGAKU K.K.-this is the common naming method of camera lens when the brand comes out. 1933, a large-size lens for aerial photography came out, named aviation Nicole.

Nikkor lens's optical technology has always been at the forefront of the times. 1968 introduced OP fisheye Nicole 10mm f/5.6 lens for SLR cameras, which is the first lens in the world with aspheric lens components. The ultra-macro Nikel 105mm f/2.8 lens introduced in 1962 is used as the template of projection lens in Nikon IC mask aligner and scanner. At present, the resolution of this lens is known as the highest level in the world. In addition, nikkor lens, the latest SLR camera, adopts a series of advanced technologies unique to Nikon, which are derived from the development of IC mask aligner and scanners. It contains nanocrystalline coating technology, which almost solves the reflection problem of lens internal components in a large wavelength range.

From the initial design and development to the monitoring of production and quality, we strictly follow Nikon standards. Nikkor lens' super-high quality meets the needs of users in all directions, ensuring the highest quality of design and production and perfect final inspection.

At present, Nicole brand has more than 70 kinds of lens series, including fisheye lens, super wide-angle lens, super telephoto lens, zoom lens, macro lens and shift lens.
