Clipping skills of ps pictures

Basic usage of "cropping tool"

Cropping tool can be used to cut a picture larger or smaller, and correct a skewed photo.

1: we first learn the basic usage of the cutting tool. Using the cropping tool shown in Figure 1 (labeled 1), we can see that the attribute column (labeled 2) has no input value by default. We can select an area in the frame in the figure, and the surrounding area will be darkened to show the cropped area. There are 8 control points around the clipping box, with which we can widen, improve, shrink and enlarge the box. If we put the mouse near the corner of the clipping box, we can find that the mouse will turn into a two-way arrow with a corner, and at this time we can rotate the clipping box by an angle.

2: By rotating the cropping box, we can directly correct the tilted picture while cropping, as shown in the lower right corner of Figure 1.

3: If you want to make a standard developed photo file, you can use the width, height and resolution options in the property bar to crop it. For example, if you want to make a 5-inch photo, you can enter "5 inches" in the width input box and "3.5 inches" in the height input box (12.7×8.9 cm if the unit is centimeters). Resolution refers to the number of pixels in the same area. It is conceivable that the more pixels in the same area, the finer the image. Generally speaking, when the resolution reaches 3 pixels/inch, the image effect is good. As shown in Figure 2:

When cutting photos, pay attention to the composition of the final work. No matter how good the photos are, improper cutting will fall short.

what should I pay attention to when composing a composition?

There are too many contents in composition. Let's talk about some common ones, such as the photos should be supplemented by the main ones and echo each other; Beginners can put the subject on the golden section (1: .618) before learning to design novel compositions. Try to avoid completely cutting off photos horizontally or vertically (such as horizon, wires, etc.); Pay attention to the subject's line of sight to have a certain room in front, and don't let the subject look at the edge of the photo when cutting.

it seems that if you cut it properly, you can cut a photo that is not outstanding into an excellent work!

of course. Actually, photography doesn't take more things than anyone else. It's easy to add things to it. It takes a lot of thought to cut out redundant images and make the photos exquisite.

"Cutting Tool" corrects the perspective of photos

All the buildings we shoot have perspective deformation. If this deformation is too large, we can use the cutting tool to repair it.

1: let's see how to correct the perspective of the photo. When shooting buildings, we can find that the skew phenomenon caused by perspective will be more serious because of the large size of the building. We need to correct the severely deformed pictures. In addition, in some cases, we may need the front view of the building. For example, the three-dimensional building in the CS game that Caicai often plays is actually made by using software to remove the perspective of the building and make it into a front view, and then paste it on the three-dimensional model like a lantern. If both ends are skewed, there is nothing you can do simply by rotating the clipping frame.

2: let's look at the building shown in figure 3. The building is tall, the top is far away from us, the bottom is close, the near is big and the far is small, so the building has perspective deformation in the picture. If we want to eliminate this deformation, we can select the "perspective" option (marked 1) in the property bar when using the cutting tool, pull the control points of the four corners to the four corners of the building, and press Enter to get the front view of the building.

I didn't expect that the cutting tool can also correct skew and perspective deformation!

Not only that, but also the cutting tool can cut the photo as small as the scissors in reality. For example, set the background color to white, use the cropping tool to frame all the images, and then use the control points to enlarge the cropping frame outside the image, so that the white border can be cut.

wow, it's really convenient to make a border so soon!

Yes, the cropping tool is not as simple as expected. If we enter values in the width, height and resolution in the property bar, we can directly crop a picture of a specified size. After you box out the selection area, press Enter, and the picture will be automatically scaled to the specified size according to the settings of the cropping box and the property bar. If you want to cut a large number of photos into the same size as a picture, you can open this picture first and click the "Previous Image" button on the property bar. The image size information of this picture will be automatically filled in the input box in front, and it will be the same size when cutting other pictures in the future.

what is the clear button for?

eliminate the previously filled values and restore the cutting tool to the default state.

cropping images skillfully with menus

The use of cropping tools is very convenient, but we need more flexible methods when dealing with images. It is a good idea to crop images with menus.

Mr. Qi, sometimes I select an image with the selection tool, and the position is already very accurate. I don't want to re-align it with the cutting tool. Is there a way to directly cut the selection area into a map?

use image-crop in the menu, and its shortcut key is Ctrl+.

what's the difference between it and using the crop tool?

the cropping command is suitable for cropping a rectangular image on the existing selection area. If we want to use the edge of a layer as the cropping basis when synthesizing an image, we can press Ctrl to click the thumbnail of the layer, turn it into a selection area and then crop it, which is very accurate.

Let's do an experiment. Open a picture, use the rectangular selection tool to select an area at will, use the Select-Transform Selection command in the menu to rotate the selection by an angle, and then use the Image-Crop command to load and cut, and then get Figure 4. Through observation, we can find that the cropping command determines four edges to crop the image according to the highest point, lowest point, leftmost point and rightmost point of the selection area, so it can't correct the tilt when cropping.

It seems a little simple ~

Have you ever thought about combining it with other commands?

what are the advantages of combining them?

For example, if the content of an individual layer is relatively large during composition, sometimes it will extend out of the frame. If we select an area for this layer and delete the external image, the image outside the frame will not be deleted. When we move this layer again, the ugly edge outside the frame will also be moved in. If there are many layers, it is very troublesome to clear them one by one. At this time, we only need to press a few keys to solve this problem.

I guessed it! Press Ctrl and don't let go, press "A" (select all images) and then press ","(crop command)!

smart! If there are multiple shortcut keys in the operation process that are all combined with the Ctrl key, it is very fast to use this method. To improve efficiency, not only can you use shortcut keys, but the seemingly simple continuous key pressing method will save you a lot of production time.

if I frame all the images with the cropping tool and press enter to confirm, will it have the same effect as the method mentioned above?

of course.

scan the pictures in one step

We often scan a large number of photos together, and these photos are not arranged neatly. Cutting them one by one is exhausting! In the new version of Photoshop, we can solve this problem in one step.

There are 5 scanned pictures, all of which are scattered small photos to be processed.

we use the file menu to solve this problem.

1: As shown in Figure 5, the upper part is a scanned manuscript, and the color of the scanned bottom plate is generally black. It doesn't matter if the photos are arranged irregularly, but be careful not to overlap each other.

2: Click the menu File-Automatic-Cut and Trim Photos, and you can see that Photoshop automatically cuts out the photos and makes them into new files for us to further modify (as shown in the lower part of Figure 5).
