Photographic skills of shooting sunset glow

When it comes to shooting the sunset, many beginners want to shoot a big "salted egg yolk" with a long lens and shoot a close-up of the sunset. But experienced photographers know that such shooting has not changed much. The following are some of my photographic techniques for shooting the sunset glow for your reference.

Photography skills, focal length and composition of shooting sunset glow 1

A wide-angle lens and a telephoto lens are often used to shoot sunset scenes. The former can highlight the foreground of the photo and create a sense of space through composition, while the latter helps to cut out a few distinctive places in the photo, and can also be close-up when the sun goes down. This time, we used a super wide-angle zoom lens and a telephoto zoom lens when taking demonstration photos.

When shooting with a wide-angle lens, the foreground will become very large and the scene in the background will become relatively small because of the lens angle. Take the photo taken this time as an example, the use of ultra-wide-angle lens can absorb a lot of foreground objects and the sky, while the sun and container terminal in the background are small, and the environment seems to be broader. Based on the principle of big foreground and small background, you can arrange some distinctive subjects (such as old tires and mottled soil) in the foreground to illustrate the background and highlight the subjects.

When it comes to shooting the sunset, many beginners want to shoot a big "salted egg yolk" with a long lens and shoot a close-up of the sunset. But experienced photographers know that such shooting has not changed much. There is only one sunset. If there is no other prospect, almost everyone will shoot the same sunset anywhere. So when shooting with a telephoto lens, remember to explain the foreground environment.

Photographic skills of shooting sunset II. Contrast control and white balance.

Photographs of sunsets and sunsets are taken in a backlit environment with great contrast, so we need to use appropriate methods to control the contrast of photos. The most common method is to use gradient grey mirror to reduce the brightness of the sky. Here we use the stand z series square gradient mirror. Basically, the effect of a square filter is the same as that of a general filter, and its filter effect is not from one side to the other. For example, when we shoot the sunset glow with sharp contrast between the sky and the ground, either the sky is too bright or the ground is too dark to show the necessary levels and details. You can use a black card for long-term exposure, and gradually reduce the mirror for short-term exposure.

Because the sky is brighter than the surrounding environment, it will cause overexposure. Sometimes a square gradient lens is used. At the best time, as long as the sky is dimmed with the end with the variable-diameter mirror and the ground is placed in the transparent area without the variable-diameter mirror, the scene of Gao Fancha can be successfully photographed, so that the contrast of the picture is close and the details of the dark part can be clearer.
