In addition, there are many varieties of plum trees, such as cinnabar plum, Bai Mei, Nanjing red, green sepal plum, jade butterfly, seven-star plum and belle plum. There are also many rare varieties such as "late water in another corner" and "double-walled hanging branches". The petals of light pink, goose yellow, big red, plain, white and deep red are dazzling. Plum blossom has three flowering periods, early, middle and late, and now it is the most prosperous time.

Plum trees on Meihua Mountain mostly grow naturally without human influence, so each plum tree has its own characteristics. Some branches are winding, which is a kind of elegant and light beauty; Some branches are straight, which shows their indomitable meaning. Each plum blossom is also very different, or quiet and elegant, or passionate as a song, or fragrant and dark, making people feel the beauty of nature.

Nowadays, the flow of people who come to Meihua Mountain to enjoy plum blossoms has become a landscape, and the crowded people wander in the plum blossom sea all over the mountains, forming a thriving scene. Since ancient times, it has been the custom of Nanjing people to grow plums. According to the older generation, this custom of Nanjing people began to follow in the Southern Dynasties. Whenever plum blossoms are in full bloom, people who love plum blossoms like to gather colleagues, go up the mountain together to enjoy plum blossoms in the pavilion, sing poems in pairs, dance and make ink, leaving many excellent works. Then, during the period of Zhu Yuanzhang, in the place where plum blossom was appreciated at that time, it was named "Meihuawu". Today's Meihua Mountain was renamed Meihua Mountain in the Republic of China after forming an indissoluble bond with Meihua Mountain.

The indomitable, proud and independent spirit of plum blossom has always been praised by people. As the city flower of Nanjing, it is also a symbol of Nanjing's iron-blooded character.
