Ackerman's introduction
Personal Achievements Professor Ackerman led the School of Photogrammetry of Stuttgart University in Germany to develop three models of zones and regions analytical space, independent modules and regional beam leveling scheme, and put them into practice after a lot of experiments. After decades of application, Professor Ackerman extended the scheme to the world-wide photogrammetry field. Because of his outstanding achievements, he won the highest honor-Brock Gold Medal-at the International Photogrammetry Association Conference (now called ISPRS) held in 1976. He continued to develop DTM (Digital Terrain Module) generation software. Although DTM appeared and was adopted by many software companies at that time, it was not really applied. Professor Ackerman continued to lead the Institute of Photogrammetry (IfP) of Stuttgart University, testing the new model and integrating it into the DTM plan SCOP (Stuttgart Contour Plan). Today this program has been widely used all over the world.
