What are the works of sports photography?
Watching Red Sorghum again this time, although it was the second time, gave me a shock and moved far more than the first time. Many novels will make the original party cry in the toilet after being remake into movies. Zhang Yimou's remake of this film is undoubtedly the conscience of the industry. He shot Red Sorghum with surging blood and ambition, and his respect for the original work and the author can be seen everywhere in this film.
Many people always exaggerate the director's contribution to the remake of novels. Obviously, it is the scene that the author racked his brains to set up, and it is the foreshadowing that he painstakingly buried, all of which are crowned on the director's head. This phenomenon always makes it easy for directors to get a lot of praise, which leads many directors to refuse to pay more attention to the remake of novels once and for all. So many people are amazed, such as "Zhang Yimou buried dark lines in" Red Sorghum ",and the whole film has red sorghum. Use red sorghum to lead the anti-Japanese war and lead the way to liberate human freedom. " "Jiu-Er's wedding scene is wonderful." Wait, I don't care. This is what is in the book, and this is Mo Yan's genius. Zhang Yimou just stood on the shoulders of giants. So the whole movie, I pay more attention to the adaptation of Zhang Yimou.
In the novel, Mo Yan is retelling his father's story. He wants to describe the story of his grandfather and grandmother with what his father saw and thought. Therefore, the stories in the novel are very broken and need to be sorted out by the readers themselves. But Zhang Yimou abandoned this montage in the film. Although there is a narrator, it comes up with a picture of Jiu-Er getting married, which makes the audience preconceived prejudice against the hero and heroine of the story. Then tell the whole story in one go. The description of marriage in the novel is very detailed, and Jiu-Er seems to have satisfied all the taboos of marriage. However, in the film, Zhang Yimou cut out these plots, leaving only Jiu-Er holding the curtain with his feet to watch Yu Zhanao, and Yu Zhanao sending Jiu-Er's feet to the car and crashing, which would be false. With these things, the audience also has a spectrum in their hearts, and the development of the plot is logical. Mo Yan once emphasized in his novels that Jiu-Er's feet, three inches of golden lotus, were wrapped very well. Jiu-Er and Yu Zhanao love and hate from Jiu-Er's feet; The fake Third Artillery coveted Jiu-Er, improvised, and was finally killed by Yu Zhanao by Jiu-Er. But scholars are conceited and always like to let readers find the key points themselves, which is too easy to dilute. But this was caught by Zhang Yimou, magnified infinitely, and became the highlight of the film. For kaoliang liquor, in fact, Mo Yan did not say color in the book. However, Zhang Yimou insisted on red. First, because kaoliang spirit is originally a red colorless product of kaoliang spirit refining process. Zhang Yimou chose red in combination with that era; The second is the metaphor of revolution, War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the blood of the oppressed people and revolutionary fighters in China. In addition to these two points, I always think that Zhang Yimou chose red, which is the blood of Uncle Lohan in the wine. The devils came to the village to build roads and rob animals and men, and cut uncle Lohan's scalp with a stabbing knife. When the devil saw that Jiu-Er had a big heart, Jiu-Er used his quick wits to wipe the blood of Uncle Lohan, playing the fool. After Uncle Lohan was taken away by the devil, Jiu-Er washed his face with kaoliang spirit, and there was always a strong smell of blood after mixing it with Uncle Lohan's blood. Jiu-Er sealed the jar of wine and didn't allow anyone to move. When Jiu-Er saw Uncle Lohan again, it was the devil who gave birth to Uncle Lohan. So I selfishly think that Zhang Yimou also wants to use red sorghum wine to remember Uncle Lohan.
In the novel, the devil only gave birth to uncle Lohan. Mo Yan described it in detail, including where the first knife was cut across the board, where the second knife was cut, and where the devil fed the cut meat to the dog. These bloody scenes were omitted from the film, but one person-San Bao was added. The devil first ordered the butcher to cut three shots, and the butcher killed three shots with one knife, thus avoiding his pain and humiliation. Just when everyone's heart was put down, the demon king ordered his little apprentice, Uncle Lohan, to cut it. Under this double stimulation, I believe that the audience's heart is no longer denouncing the cruelty and inhumanity of the devil, but rising to a patriotic feeling of stirring blood and resisting oppression. I have to say that Zhang Yimou is very smart and understands people. This became a small climax in the film.
In the whole movie, what moved me most was the death of Jiu-Er. In the novel, Jiu-Er's death is actually a slow motion. Jiu-Er was lying in the sorghum field. From Jiu-Er's perspective, he saw the noon sun, sorghum swaying with the wind, and a group of white pigeons flying from the horizon. Among them, Jiu-Er had struggled. When Jiu-Er saw the sunshine and the dove and felt the breeze blowing, he couldn't bear to close his eyes and think about all the beautiful things in the world. However, when she saw sorghum, smelled the fresh taste of crushed sorghum and felt the oppressive feeling coming from her back, she felt unprecedented satisfaction and finally fell asleep with a smile. This plot is very intriguing and is the climax of the novel. However, Zhang Yimou changed his role here. From Jiu-Er's point of view, what a dying person sees is a little miserable and desperate. Zhang Yimou changed to Yu Zhanao and saw a red sun, and all the red films in the sky also ended in the red sky. What Yu Zhanao was thinking about when he saw the red sun became a suspense. I have to say that Zhang Yimou's move is very bold, but Jiu-Er has been replaced by Yu Zhanao
The whole movie is more optimistic and full of hope, which can be regarded as the aspiration of the people.
So I think the real success of Zhang Yimou's Red Sorghum is because he doesn't want to stand on the shoulders of giants. He heard the story from an old man and passed it on in the tone of young people in the new era. He injected new young blood into this story, and he let this story be passed down from generation to generation!
