Definition of news interview

News interview is the starting point of news communication, which makes news writing different from literary creation in terms of materials. News interview embodies the important characteristics of journalists' profession. Interview is the process of the interviewer's understanding of objective things, and the process of the interviewer's analysis and judgment by observing, listening and thinking in person and using his own news viewpoint, knowledge accumulation and way of thinking. News interview requires the interviewer to have news sensitivity, adaptability and interview skills, that is, to be able to find news keenly in complex objective things, to capture news quickly in fleeting opportunities and to dig news skillfully under various difficult conditions. In addition to reporting emergencies, journalists also engage in active and purposeful interviews in peacetime. This kind of interview has clear reporting ideas, sufficient information preparation and careful interview plan in advance.

The ways of interview activities include individual visits, on-the-spot investigations, attending meetings, holding investigation meetings, attending press conferences, reading written materials, etc. Interview activities include individual interviews, group interviews, cross interviews, sectional interviews, roving interviews and covert interviews (in some special occasions, the identity of journalists is not disclosed or the purpose of the interview is not stated). Due to the different division of labor and interview habits, journalists have different recording forms, such as dictation, audio recording, photography, audio recording and video recording.
