What is the prospect of domestic e-commerce?

Hello, confused, confused and complaining students majoring in e-commerce:

Although this letter is addressed to freshmen, I believe it will be useful for students majoring in e-commerce at any level, even after graduation. Every year, I can see and hear too many complaints from students majoring in e-commerce. Yesterday, one of my alma mater, Xiangtan University, who majored in e-commerce, told me that the freshmen of grade 07 had been hit hard. At the same time, the students in Grade 05 and Grade 06 also complained bitterly, and even several students changed their majors. Although I have seen this situation over the years, I am still deeply worried to hear that my brothers and sisters are still what I saw in those years. So I said to him, "Let me write something. I feel it my duty to tell you. " . Although I am not Kai-fu Lee, I am not qualified to tell my classmates the truth and legendary experience. I haven't become Ma Yun yet, and I don't have enough capital to tell my classmates about learning methods and entrepreneurial experience. But as the second batch of students majoring in e-commerce in China, I personally came all the way. As a person who has made achievements in this field, I still feel that I have the responsibility and ability to share my heart and experience with students majoring in e-commerce. In fact, many articles I have written and published about e-commerce education and learning come from my feelings and sense of responsibility that I can't give up.

Students, I don't know how each of you became attached to the e-commerce major. I can only tell you how I first entered the e-commerce major and then fell in love with the Internet. This paragraph is long, please skip it if you don't like it. I have always stressed the importance of interest. Indeed, interest is the greatest motivation for learning. My love for the Internet/e-commerce first stems from my love for computers. I came into contact with computers in the third grade of primary school, and it was 1993. I should be the first person to contact computers in my city. At that time, I entered a computer training class, all of which were 20. I am the youngest student and have only two courses: Wu Bi Font and Basic Language. After all, I am too young. During the two-month summer vacation, I didn't learn any of them, even touched the fur, but I had the most primitive curiosity about computers. Later, in the fifth grade of primary school, the importance of computers began to be promoted to a very high level. A computer interest group was set up in primary school, and members of the group can often use the computers in the school computer room. In order to cultivate young seeds, the threshold of group members must be students above grade four, and they must have good math scores, and they must be selected by school computer teachers themselves. It happened that I didn't do well in math from primary school to college, so I had to ask the teacher. The teacher was moved by my enthusiasm and finally agreed to give me special permission to join the computer interest group. There, I learned to use the earliest mobile storage media (3-inch and 5-inch floppy disks), practiced the ultra-fast pinyin input method (double spelling input method), and learned all DOS command operations (before WINDOWS 95). Since then, I have been out of control and firmly fell in love with it.

My understanding and use of computers is relatively emotional. I have been poor in math since I was a child. Although I studied programming very hard in high school, I only dabbled in it (although programming doesn't really need good math). Compared with my peers, I just use it for a long time, and practice makes perfect. The real contact with the Internet is 1998. I visited the first website in my life: Sina, and I realized that I could play like this. I stayed in the Internet cafe all night and found a lot of information about photography and bicycles that I was interested in in in Sina's search engine. I was very excited. Blink of an eye to the third grade, the pressure of learning made me gradually away from the computer. In the second year of grade three, like others, I was faced with the pressure of college entrance examination and the choice of major. Before the college entrance examination, I basically watch the CCTV-2 program dialogue every week, and I am bound to wait by the TV at 22 o'clock every Sunday night. At that time, the program group often invited Internet elites such as Zhang Chaoyang and Ding Lei to talk, and they often mentioned one word: e-commerce. Naturally, I am full of affection for this industry. In the days when the college entrance examination is approaching, I still roam Sina. When the word "e-commerce major" appeared on the web page, I basically liked it at first sight, and I understood that loving someone can be so simple.

Fortunately, Xiangtan University, where I was admitted, has just started this major. I am the first batch of e-commerce students in the school and the second batch in the country. I have said on many occasions that I am grateful to my alma mater Xiangtan University for giving me a free and open environment. One night in the freshman year, some students in the class went to study by themselves and some were playing cards. I felt boring, so I went to the Internet cafe. At that time, I felt that students majoring in e-commerce should not soak in books every day, because there is a broader ocean of knowledge on the Internet. I soon found a BBS called "E-commerce Division Forum". After I registered as a member, I found myself the first member of the forum except the founder administrator. Naturally, I became a super moderator. I regard this forum as my own forum and think about how to improve my popularity every day. I have posted more than n posts, half of which are original. Although I knew very little at that time, I always tried to write some seemingly reasonable posts. Gradually, the efforts paid off and the popularity of the forum increased. At the end of the forum, the forum gathered nearly 10,000 members and became the hottest e-commerce forum at that time. I met friends in the industry in Beijing and Shenzhen on the forum, and they let me know in advance what e-commerce is about. Later, together with my friends in Shenzhen, I set up the "China E-commerce Pioneer Organization" with great ambition (now you can visit its memorial website: www.2 1eb.org), claiming to be the largest non-governmental organization of e-commerce in China at that time, with a huge crowd. In July 2003, I organized a party in Shenzhen. At that time, Song Libin, president of Huaqiao University Electronic Commerce Association, was a key member of the organization. During my stay in Shenzhen, he encouraged me to set up a similar club in my school. Therefore, with the great help of Teacher Liu of Xiangtan University, Xiangtan University E-commerce Association was established. I was very happy and moved to see the efforts made by Wen Ran, then vice president, and john young, then assistant to the president, for the development of the association at that time. I don't think it's a matter of time before interest is cultivated. With the platform of association, I know more about what I should do, and I can also get in touch with the outside world conveniently. During this period, I did a lot of things, such as making the brand of the association, organizing activities, interacting with the association and so on. It was during this period that I learned in practice that I had a deeper understanding of e-commerce, at least from then on I was no longer confused about my major. Although I later became the founder and vice president of Huaihua E-commerce Association, and served as a consultant to many other schools or city E-commerce associations, and even founded a joint venture, I didn't have the experience of Xiangtan University E-commerce Association.

This is my experience as a student. It is not rich enough, but it is still wonderful by comparison. Maybe some people will say that I have good conditions. 1993 I had access to computers in primary school. Many college students from rural areas didn't learn to turn on and off computers until they went to college. The students just looked. After all, my experience cannot be copied, and there is no need to copy it. Everyone has his own wonderful life, and interest can be cultivated and acquired. Among my classmates, and among the students in Grade 03-07 that I came into contact with, many of them don't know why they chose the e-commerce major. Some people think that the name of this major is nice and fashionable, some are arranged by their parents, and some are voluntarily enrolled in other majors. As a result, the number of places in that major was full and I couldn't transfer to the e-commerce major. In my class at that time, I estimated that only 1/5 students were the first in their major. During my four years in college, I heard almost uninterrupted complaints from my classmates, some complaining about the school, more complaining about majors, complaining about unreasonable professional courses, complaining about poor and irresponsible professional teachers, and complaining that professional employment has no direction. Six years have passed, and now I hear the complaints of freshmen of grade 07, which is still the same as six years ago. Looking back now, it's really hard to blame students for this phenomenon, but it can't be said that many students don't consider things. No wonder students, because this is caused by the big environment. In the final analysis, it still goes back to primary and secondary education. Our generation's primary and secondary education, especially secondary education (primary school is much better after reducing the burden), students have experienced six years of high-pressure study, and secondary school teachers are very responsible because of the particularity of assessment and education stages. Students who don't like learning are supervised by extremely responsible teachers every day in the environment of secondary education. This high-pressure state makes underage students have to give up, at least temporarily, their interests and have to give up, at least temporarily, to find their own interests. The teacher told us that we study so hard every day just to get into a good university and have a good major, but didn't tell us what to do after entering the university. We thought the university teacher would tell us, but no one in the university told us, although we knew that the goal of going to college was to find a good job or continue our studies. But no one told us how to find a good job. Speaking of which, it is said that many students don't use their brains or think about things. The students worked hard in high school for three years and came to the university. The unprecedented relaxed environment and open education in the university made us slack off at once. Of course, I also think that going to college should be easier than when I was in middle school, and at least I can have a fair love. At this time, our conscious classmates will attend classes on time every day, listen carefully, read books in the library after school, study in the teaching building, and follow the learning methods of middle school. Unconscious students finally got rid of the shackles of their parents and teachers, Internet cafes became their dormitories, and online games became their spiritual sustenance. Understandable, really understandable. Students who play online games, if they think about business a little, may also achieve something. There are precedents for reference. However, when we experienced a period of university and became familiar with the university environment, we began to complain about the school, teachers and majors. In fact, there is nothing wrong with universities, majors and university teachers. The university itself should be like this. Universities in China at least manage students' lives (unified accommodation). Many foreign universities do not have the concept of dormitory, but rent their own houses. Of course, the national conditions are different. If Chinese college students are allowed to rent out, it will at least increase the huge buyer's market, which is beside the point. Six years in high school is not easy for everyone. They rushed out of the crowd. When they arrived at the university, the environment changed and they left their parents. Don't they know how to change the way of learning and thinking? Think, think for yourself!

Also, I think too many people are ungrateful. Some students who chose e-commerce as their major subjectively found that e-commerce was an empty thing after reading it for several years. They felt that they had been cheated by this major from the beginning, and then complained to their classmates and scolded this major for nothing. I really want to say what qualifications these people have to scold this major? The original intention of these people is incorrect. They always hope that schools, majors and teachers will still have some real practical knowledge from the sky. If not, they will watch all day long, but never think of sitting on a huge knowledge cake. How many times have I said that schools are platforms and majors are shells? Don't expect undergraduate education to teach you many practical skills. If this is what they want, why don't you apply to a vocational and technical college or? Learn some car maintenance or cooking skills, and you may be able to cook a good dish after graduation. The university environment is to give every college student an equal and open environment and cultivate their quality and spirit. The division of majors in universities is to give students in majors a direction. Learning is not counting on teachers, not reciting textbooks from beginning to end, not getting more than 90 points in the final exam. It is true that good academic performance proves your diligence and hard work, but you should consider yourself, your goals and your direction at the beginning of your hard work. I just said that students are sitting on a huge cake. They expect the pie of knowledge to fall from the sky, but they don't know that they are reaching for it. The explosion of information and the ubiquitous network make it easier and faster for us to acquire knowledge. Can students take the initiative? Don't you know how to catch when you are hungry? Either do nothing every day, or spend the years in the internet cafe every day, or die in the library every day (I said that although the library is also a big cake, it is a big cake that has expired and can be eaten, but it tastes bad and stale). There are also those students who have transferred to the e-commerce major, and somehow they have arrived at the e-commerce major. It is true that e-commerce is a newly established undergraduate major in 200 1. Many conditions are immature and teachers are not strong enough, but are you worth complaining about? Just like each of us can't choose our parents. Do we dislike them because our parents have no money or power? What is gratitude? What is self-improvement? Do we still have this spirit? Four years in college. Anyway, this major has been with us for four years. At least you can see the teacher's efforts and efforts, and see the professional progress. We should be grateful! Just like your parents brought you into this world, you were brought up hard, not to complain about them, but to make you successful. Do we have courage and confidence? Are we confident that after many years, the once controversial major of "e-commerce" will be more brilliant because of my struggle? As we all know, we study hard and work hard to make our parents live a better life, for those who love us and for those we love. Have we ever thanked those who loved, educated, nurtured and supported us? Unfortunately, I didn't see everyone's gratitude and confidence. Is this gratitude and self-confidence strangled in the cradle by the exam-oriented education in our primary and secondary schools?

I want to ask you, what are you going to college for? I think there will be thousands of answers, some for finding a good job (I can understand it as a high-paying job) and some for further study (postgraduate entrance examination is good, but what is your ultimate goal? Is it to get a higher diploma and find a richer job or to save face? Or is it really for academic research? If it is the latter, I admire it from the bottom of my heart), some people think that going to college is a process, just like going to primary and secondary schools, and life has to go through this formulaic process. So do I, after all, in the big environment of China, it is still very important to understand the times, and I haven't the courage to drop out of school to do what I want to do. However, in the process of this formulation, have we found anything that we are really interested in? Have you found our real interest? Have we cultivated our self-reliance and sense of responsibility for ourselves, others and society through university education? It is impossible for us to persist in what we are not interested in, and it is impossible to achieve results without persistence. I have asked many people what their interests are, and boys can generally answer them. Girls often say that they don't seem interested in anything, and then they will talk about reading, watching movies, playing games, sleeping and so on. Well, it's not an interest, it's a hobby, but I think there is actually a paper that separates hobbies from interests. I like reading, why not try to write my own book? Why do you always read other people's stories? Why not let others read your own story? Like watching movies, why not consider making a movie or writing a script? I like playing games. Why didn't I think about doing something in the game industry and game field? I like sleeping, why not do some psychological research? I'm exaggerating, but interest is the second soul of people! Of course, I'm not saying that everyone has to do something earth-shattering, and it's impossible, but there are always some things worth doing and paying with our heart, from our contribution to society and our pursuit of career to our filial piety to our parents, love for our lovers and care for our children. These are all responsibilities. The country has held two sessions, and both feel that it has nothing to do with themselves. What kind of college students do they deserve? What about our humanistic spirit? How about our college students' sense of social responsibility?

It's a bit far. It's about the education system in China, which is a bit harsh and may make many students unhappy. Hehe, let's talk about our major quickly. I'll just talk about the problems in my major. From a macro point of view, it is self-evident that colleges and universities blindly add majors, and the problems that follow are self-evident. I even saw that a school opened an e-government major in the past. Hehe, the first problem of blindly following the trend without considering your own situation is that the positioning of e-commerce specialty is unknown. From a macro point of view, I always talk about the problems existing in the major from a macro point of view. It is necessary for the Ministry of Education to set up a new university major to keep up with the times. When we advocate reform and innovation, mistakes and rashness are inevitable. E-commerce major is the product of the new era. A brand-new major was born without much preparation. The biggest problem is the shortage of teachers and unprofessionalism. At the beginning of major construction, in order to attend classes, colleges and universities were taught to transfer teachers from other majors. Teachers may not have relevant theoretical basis and professional knowledge, let alone practical experience. Most of the textbooks are based on some typical cases in the west (which may not work in China) or some old-fashioned e-commerce cases in large domestic enterprises (there is no reference). At this time, there is a boring debate, that is, whether e-commerce is biased towards technology or marketing management. This issue has been debated for at least a year in the teaching field of e-commerce specialty in China, which is really boring. I remember when the media made a big splash, it was also to respond to the needs of universities and enrollment institutions. The media often reports that there are tens of thousands of talents. The most widely circulated news in that year was that the gap of e-commerce talents in China would reach 2 million in the next decade. Such publicity has made many students majoring in e-commerce complacent. However, the more they read, the more confused they became, and finally they lost their way. The more such reports, the more we can see the commercial purpose of soft advertising. Later, the so-called experts in the industry began to exaggerate the greater gap in logistics talents, network security and online games in China in the future. Some universities and social training institutions are also very cooperative. What major to open in society, whether the trained students can find jobs or not, is the most urgent to recruit students first and attract students. In fact, if you think about it a little, you can clearly see the authenticity of such talent gap figures and the credibility of statistical data. Later, the media began to say that the employment rate of e-commerce majors was less than 20%, which led to a group of students defecting online. Our lovely classmates are led by the nose by the media all day, sad! The media's utilitarian and irresponsible reporting and irresponsible opening up can be imagined.

Students majoring in e-commerce may often hear the word "compound talents". No matter how glamorous and how to explain this word, it is this word that leads to the inorganic combination of computer and economic management in e-commerce teaching, which is equivalent to students learning the fur of two majors. Macroscopically, we call the school ignorant and professional rubbish, but what about each of us? We are in it, and the fate of our profession is closely linked to our destiny. Is it true that the professional rules require you to study like this? According to professional rules, if you can't learn, you won't learn? So obedient? Think about it! Think independently! We study economic management and computer technology. Do we know how to integrate? It is not the integration of technology, but the integration of ideas. I think the most important thing for students majoring in e-commerce is to learn and have the ability to comprehensively use all kinds of knowledge and rationally allocate all kinds of resources. The key to cultivate this ability lies in practice, and we should learn from practice and learn for practice. Many of our classmates also think that as long as we learn computer networks well, we can make websites, even if we study e-commerce. This is a rather one-sided view. The most important thing in college education is thinking and self-study. Many people may think that the comprehensiveness of e-commerce major reduces the depth and accuracy of studying various courses, which is not conducive to students learning one direction. Actually, take a closer look at the courses in the university. Which course is not dragonfly? I have met a large number of computer graduates who can't program, and it is difficult for graduates majoring in business administration and marketing to tell clearly what they have learned and what skills they have mastered. However, if the students majoring in e-commerce can find their interested direction after the influence of the university environment and the superficial experience of university education, whether it is technology or business, they should decide according to their own situation and hobbies. The choice of this direction should be decided before the opening of professional courses, so as to have enough time for future study. I firmly oppose the restriction of majors in colleges and universities, which is like asking primary school students to ask questions in a unified sitting position in the early 1990 s. Now is the time to advocate the concept of letting a hundred flowers blossom. Then, students who intend to study technology in depth are divided into bottom development and application technology. The bottom development is a deep study of operating system and programming language, and the threshold is very high. The application technology is relatively extensive and the learning threshold is low, mainly including website development, database construction, server maintenance and management, etc. When learning technology, we must not ignore our grasp of the overall economic situation and ignore the market trend. The results of this technology are technical products and new technical talents that meet the needs of society. Students who intend to study business in depth can conduct marketing, market research, channel contact, internet trade, online customer service, online public relations, product and raw material procurement, business development, and even strategic planning and strategy formulation around the e-commerce platform. However, we can't fully understand the technology. At least we should understand the basic knowledge of website construction, understand various network programming languages and databases, and pay attention to emerging technologies. Only in this way can the management planning and marketing plan be more feasible and operable, and we will not be fooled by technicians when we take up management positions. This is what I call the concept of compound and comprehensive e-commerce talents. Last year, I argued with a graduate student of my alma mater. He and the professor of international economics and trade in our business school are on the same side with him. They advocate canceling the e-commerce major. I firmly defend the dignity of our profession. This is my gratitude and my responsibility. Later, I said, "I am in favor of canceling the major of e-commerce, but at the same time canceling the major of international economy and trade, marketing and business administration, and it is enough for business schools to keep only the major of accounting." I mean, I think all students understand that majors give us more than just use. I emphasize thinking again!

10 this year, although there were years when the bubble burst and experienced ups and downs, it was undoubtedly the brightest and most dynamic industry. I don't need any words to prove it. Where are my classmates? Get ready quickly, history is waiting for creation, for subversion, and for you to challenge authority!

Sometimes I feel my strength is limited, especially when writing this letter. I am not a well-known scholar and professor, nor a successful entrepreneur. After graduation, I returned to my alma mater, Hunan University, to share with my classmates, including Jinan University, Hunan Institute of Information and many vocational and technical colleges in Guangdong and Hunan. However, due to time constraints, I still have many companies and projects to be busy with. I am deeply grateful to the teachers and classmates in these schools. I think most of me will be interested in e-commerce. I hope to have time to communicate with you. I will leave my contact information after the letter.

I have majored in e-commerce for 7 years. I don't know whether it has grown from a fragile baby to a strong baby. Still experiencing the so-called seven-year itch, time flies and makes people old, and the sun and the moon fly like a teenager. Students, come on!
