Comparative analysis and composition of two photos

The following is Zhang's analysis and comments on these two photos:

Figure 1. When most people arrive at this position, they are first attracted by Panshan Road, and then press the shutter on Panshan Road with their mobile phones. We all record our lives in this way, just like we take pictures of our loved ones. Even people who can't take pictures know to put the person being photographed in the most conspicuous position in the picture. This kind of recording method only has the main body in the picture, and there is no accompanying body, which makes the picture appear monotonous and lacks artistic sense.

Judging from these two photos, the first one is limited by objective conditions, which may be that the sky is late or cloudy and the color of the sky is not very beautiful, so it is understandable to use horizontal composition.

The composition of the magazine cover is very particular, and it may also have luck. There is a glow in the sky and on the lake. If there are no branches above, I think the sky will look empty, but the silhouette of the branches will make the sky no longer monotonous.

Looking at the scenery, the winding road leads people's eyes to the direction of the distant glow, and the messy forest on the right is a flaw. This dark element will make the visual weight at the bottom right of the picture overweight. However, the photographer skillfully arranged some sailboats and hazy mountains in the corresponding position on the upper left of the landscape, so that the visual weight was no longer out of balance.

Whether it is up and down or left and right, the visual weight is balanced and the positions between elements are compact. Even if there are abrupt elements in the lower right corner, it can easily resolve the embarrassment of visual imbalance.

The composition is wonderful, but the picture quality feels rough, the color is excessive, and the brightness details are not very good. Maybe it was taken by a mobile phone.

Look at this picture. Let's look at the picture elements first. Only a small part of the plant in the lower left corner and the branch structure at the top of the picture were photographed. What about this part? If you like, try to make them complete, don't just show half your face. If not, try to exclude it from the picture and drop it later.

The picture is a little cleaner after P, but in terms of overall visual weight, the forest and large area on the right are close to black, which makes the visual weight overweight and the picture unbalanced.

This will not make the imbalance too serious, but the problem has not been completely solved, mainly because there are no elements on the left that can alleviate the visual imbalance.

The sailboat in the distance would be much better if it were closer, but it's too far. It looks like just a few points. The sailboats in the magazine are very close and have obvious shapes, which can effectively alleviate the imbalance. Therefore, it is not appropriate to take a horizontal composition at this position and time.
