What do you dislike most about Chaoshan?

On March 5th and 5th, 20 15, my friends went to Chaoshan by car for the first time. Only when I arrived in Chaoshan did I know that Chaoshan is also a special economic zone! I was surprised at that time, but after staying in Chaoshan for a day or two, I can understand why this special zone has not developed like Shenzhen.

The first one: Chaoshan people are very conservative. Even the special economic zones are only nominal. People in the whole area are very conservative and unwilling to accept new things and ideas. How can reform and opening up succeed in a place that is unwilling to accept new things? We are traveling in the local area. As tourists, we don't feel the enthusiasm of the local people, but we are indifferent, exclusive and closed.

The second one: the idea of son preference is extremely serious. Families in Chaoshan area basically have to have a boy, and the more the better. If you can't have boys, the woman has no position at home or even in the local area, and she can't lift her head. When I was working in Guangdong, the Chaoshan girls around me basically entered the society early, went out to work without receiving good educational opportunities, and then made money to marry their brothers. How can a place that doesn't respect women be as tolerant and open as Shenzhen?

To tell the truth, I don't like it here at all except beef balls.

Chaoshan is the name of a geographical area, including Shantou, Chaozhou and Jieyang, as well as parts of Meizhou and Shanwei. Located in the eastern coastal area of Guangdong Province, it is a famous hometown of overseas Chinese in China.

Chaoshan has the most exquisite temples in China, world-renowned cuisine and unique local cultural characteristics. Although there are many overseas Chinese, Shantou is a special economic zone and the frontier of economic, trade and cultural exchanges in China. The concept of local residents is relatively traditional and conservative, and it is the best place for traditional culture in China. Chaoshan people are still doing business, and Chaoshan business gang is the most famous business gang in China. It has many wealthy tycoons and even controls the economic lifeline of some Southeast Asian countries. Some cities in China have a small population base and a large proportion of the economy, so that there is a saying in Shenzhen that if chapman stops working, the cities will be paralyzed.

Chaoshan people are undoubtedly one of the smartest and best ethnic groups in the Han nationality, and there is nothing offensive in reason. In fact, eating delicious food and drinking congou tea every day in Chaoshan is a very ideal living condition. Living here should be only satisfaction, not disgust.

In fact, when you stay in a place for a long time and have a deeper understanding of all aspects of this place, you will always find some places that make you dissatisfied or even disgusted. As a Chaoshan person, I have lived here for more than 40 years. Although I am satisfied with all aspects here, I am still dissatisfied with criticizing Chaoshan along this issue.

First, Chaoshan women are more traditional. Although they are famous for their obedience to women's morality, meekness and humility, and as a whole, they are well-known virtuous women, but they are somewhat tacky in their behavior and always give people the feeling of rural women.

The second is the throat. Chaoshan people's group is also very famous. Chaoshan Chamber of Commerce is a famous patriotic and hometown-loving group, but it is reflected in the local area. Although there are groups all over the township, they have not well condensed the Chaoshan consensus. For example, chaozhou people does not agree with the name of Chaoshan, and Puning people do not agree with the jurisdiction of Jieyang. In many villages, some villages are mutually exclusive and some houses are not satisfied with each other. Although this is still a small-scale way of holding a group, from the perspective of Chaoshan, it is a kind of throats.

Third, there is a big gap between the rich and the poor, and there are many greedy people. Until now, there is no effective governance method. When I passed by Jiangxi, I found that all the villages in Jiangxi now live in small buildings. Although it is difficult to find a decent mansion, there are no dilapidated houses. This should be a good well-off paradigm. However, in Chaoshan area, luxury houses abound, and there are many tens of millions or even billions of luxury houses, but the number of people living in dangerous houses is still a huge order of magnitude. Chaoshan is one of the areas where private enterprises are developed, but there are also many state-level poverty-stricken counties. Per capita GDP ranks lower not only in Guangdong province, but also in the whole country, especially in the economically developed coastal areas extending from Dandong in Liaoning to Qinzhou in Guangxi. I think the biggest reason is that greed makes people lose their rationality, including the rational judgment of managers. Sadly, most people still know nothing about it.

The fourth is to sit still and be self-righteous, probably because they have been far away from the Central Plains Dynasty since ancient times. Chaoshan people have relatively no sense of the overall situation, resulting in few local cultural and political figures with national influence. Although some Chaoshan people are eager to travel around the world, more local Chaoshan people have not even walked a few steps, even in the era when airplanes and high-speed trains are so developed. There are many successful people in my circle of friends. People in their forties and fifties have never been on a plane or a high-speed train, but they often think they are superior because of their small achievements.

The fifth is complacency, which has a certain relationship with the bondage of traditional culture and rural custom culture. As mentioned earlier, there are many rich and expensive people in Chaoshan, but there are also many poor people. I have combined with many poor people, who are either content with the status quo and do not strive for progress, or have amazing backbone. There is a saying that Chaoshan people's persistence and stubbornness in the status quo is "starving to death and not working", which leads to the strange phenomenon that some people do business at a loss and don't eat or work. There are many examples around me, but they are all hurt by the poisonous tongue of "starving to death and not working". In fact, the road of life is to go step by step. As long as it is not out of line and illegal, it should not be boring and complacent.

Of course, there are many things that I am not satisfied with, but there is nothing that makes me particularly disgusted. But if I have to pick one that I find very offensive, it is the self-righteousness of a frog in a well, including myself. Because I am from Chaoshan, some opinions in this article may be self-righteous.

Everyone's troubles are different, and things they don't like are the same!

In Chaoshan, I think most people are just busy for money, and there is no time to pay attention to the beautiful scenery around them and the people who care about us and pay for us at the same time. So we are disgusted and tired of the beauty that belongs to us in life! Brother, disgust should not occupy the soul. Just remind us to change ourselves and appreciate and tolerate the things and people around us.

With a broad mind, you will feel that nature is so beautiful! As a Chaoshan person facing the sea, why not enjoy the beautiful scenery and nature? Is it interesting to complain about this every day? Owning is as disgusting as losing!

Just want to say that less resentment and complaints will be happier! Thank you for understanding, long live understanding! If you have time for tea, everything will go away. Friend, this is glue!

I can't stand it when I go out. I usually stay at home when I go home. I never go out. I'll hide in my room when my relatives come! What you wear, what you say, getting married in the future, having boys and girls, they all have to take care of it. The most terrible thing is that their families don't think these are problems, and their relatives tell them what to do when they go out! mmp! ! Go away!

Foreigners have been in Jieyang for two years. What I hate most here is that some locals suddenly turn their heads to you when they speak Chaozhou dialect, and inexplicably switch to Mandarin for you to answer their questions.

On one occasion, several people were eating at a table, and three people were chatting enthusiastically. Suddenly, they popped out a sentence in Mandarin and threw the question at me. Then several people said I should know, and several pairs of eyes looked at me, waiting for my answer.

I didn't participate in the previous discussion. What should I say? I don't talk.

Another time, a local elder sister asked me if I knew Chaozhou dialect, because she was surprised that I seemed to know Chaozhou dialect.

I said I didn't understand, but she didn't believe me. I'm too lazy to explain.

In fact, in some cases, in some cases, the other party doesn't have to talk at all. You can guess what he wants to say by his eyes and actions. It has nothing to do with what dialect the other person speaks, but depends on your specific keen sense of touch, very good observation and delicate mind. There is one thing I like least:

I was with two other locals, who accompanied me on a tour.

At first, the three of us were still talking in Mandarin, and then suddenly it became a Chaozhou dialogue in front of me, and the content of the dialogue was still mine. If I can understand, I really can't understand, but I can feel that they must be talking about me.

Of course, saying that my content is not bad just makes me feel strange. This is very rude behavior, they don't even have this consciousness ... alas.

It's just that some people obviously have no money, but they have to compare with others. There are many such things at home, and they all envy taking the civil service exam. As soon as they get home, they are always urged to get married by their relatives. Why? I'm a little puzzled. My parents are in no hurry. What's your hurry? A thousand words are summed up in one sentence.

I think it is noodles. Can you believe it?

I can tell you for sure,

Yes, it is the kind of noodles sold in the vegetable market.

I am a person who likes noodles.

Never dare to eat again after coming to Chaoshan!

I know many people want to know why.

That is, noodles are made of alkaline water,

And it has a strong alkaline taste.

Excuse me, is alkaline noodles really edible?

I have been to many towns and villages in Chaoshan for many years, including Jieyang, Jiexi and Puning nearby. I have met many Chaoshan people and admire their diligence, intelligence and unity in making money, but there are also some incomprehensible places, so I can't say that I am disgusted:

Feudal superstition and feudal ethics are serious. Influenced by tradition, women get married at an early age and just want to marry a good family. They obey like maids at home, not physically but mentally. Women's status is extremely low. As long as they get married, they only need to deal with alcohol. Many of them didn't get marriage certificates. After marriage, a woman can stay at home regardless of whether her husband drinks or not. I know more than one Chaoshan man who lives in a self-built house with three or four women. The woman is used to it, and everyone doesn't feel abnormal, and they each allocate housework. Moreover, the local people are particularly superstitious, such as witches, geomantic omen, yin and yang, eight characters and so on.

Feudal kinship is serious. You will find that this is actually a double-edged sword in Chaoshan area. The blood relationship here is so strong that it is difficult for outsiders to integrate with the ancestral temple as a link. Clans cause nepotism, which is greater than national law. If you have been to Chaoshan in earlier years, you can see that Shantou's city slogan is actually rebuilding the credibility of the government.

No feelings of home and country, lack of public morality, just trying to make money at all costs, bad municipal roads and public facilities. In the past, every village made fakes, and every village made the same products, including shoes, clothes, cigarettes and so on. Now almost all of them have been hit.

Boys are taught from an early age that learning is not important, so they come out early to do business with their families. Men are lustful and must have boys. Destroy me and make me a passer-by walking alone in a foreign land.

1. feudalism. Feudalism can be divided into several aspects. I believe everyone is familiar with the preference for boys over girls, followed by external image requirements and constraints on women. In fact, the requirement of external image can be included in the requirement of women, but I think it is necessary to talk about it.

(1) Prefers boys over girls. I have a neighbor who gave birth to six girls just to give birth to a boy. Then I sent a boy away. My family is no exception. I gave birth to three girls and finally gave birth to a younger brother. The position of girls in the family is that they must learn to do housework to reduce the family burden. Food is given priority to boys, and so are educational opportunities.

(2) External image requirements. Several of my roommates are from Chaoshan, and Chaoshan's mother is really poisoned by the culture in this area. One roommate's mother didn't let her curl her hair, and the other roommate didn't wear lipstick. As soon as she found out, she asked her roommate to take it off. I'm from Chaoshan, too. Fortunately, my mother is not from Chaoshan. My mother is more open-minded than most Chaoshan mothers. However, you can hide it from your mother but not from your grandmother. Grandma didn't think it was appropriate to wear a skirt with suspenders during the summer vacation. My neighbor saw me and said, "Why are you dressed like this?"

(3) Constraints on women. As I said before, my mother is not from here. Mother is naturally fond of singing and playing. Many times, my mother invites some friends to KTV after work, and my grandmother always looks at her with unfriendly eyes. I have to report to my grandmother when I go to play, and even my mother has to care what friends she makes.

2. Worship God too often. In fact, worshipping God is out of a regional culture and a respect for the gods. However, do you know how often people in Chaoshan area worship God? Major festivals such as the Spring Festival should be put on first, and on the 15th of each month, people should worship God. Let's not talk about the amount of paper money spent on it, but won't you be tired of going home from work and busy with these things?

The above are my personal views and conclusions based on the phenomena around me. I hope that Chaoshan area can make some changes in thought and optimize cultural customs, and expect Chaoshan area to get better and better.

I am disgusted to see the comments that Chaoshan prefers boys to girls. Is there no place in the country that likes boys to have more children? Where is the divorce rate lower than that of Chaoshan people? Which place in Chaoshan is not exclusive? Which place is more traditional than Chaoshan? I mean, your tradition is to respect the old and love the young. Treat people with courtesy. Chaoshan lecturers hate people who think they are very open-minded and people from other places.
