The only island in the Yangtze River surrounded by water for tourists to climb and visit is in Jiangsu Province.

Friends who have traveled to Zhenjiang, Jiangsu Province know that there are three famous mountains in Zhenjiang, namely Gu Bei, Jinshan and Jiao Shan, but Jiao Shan is often overlooked by foreign tourists, because there is the famous Kanluoji on the northern mountain of Gu and the Jinshan Temple where the white snake fights the French. By contrast, Jiao Shan seems to have nothing to see. In fact, many people don't know that Jiao Shan is the only place in the Yangtze River surrounded by water for tourists to climb and visit.

Although Jiao Shan is one of the three mountains in Zhenjiang, it is at best an island in the lower reaches of the Yangtze River, not as majestic as the three mountains and five mountains. But it is independent of the middle of the river, but it is incomparable to other mountains and rivers. According to legend, there was a woodcutter in Jiao Shan, whose name was Qiaoshan. Later, in the Han Dynasty, a famous hermit Jiao Guang lived here in seclusion. He studied medicine and alchemy, cured diseases and saved lives, and was deeply loved by local people. Later, when people changed it into Cape Mountain.

As the only island in the Yangtze River that can only be reached by ferry, the visibility of Jiao Shan in Zhenjiang is quite strong. On the top of Jiaoshan Mountain, there is a 40-meter-high Ten Thousand Buddha Pagoda, which is an antique pagoda in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. There is a heavenly palace above it and an underground palace below it, surrounded by scenery. It is said that at night, the ten thousand pagodas can emit light beams to guide the passing ships.

Next to Jiaoshan Ferry Pier, there is a Dinghui Temple, which was built in the Eastern Han Dynasty, more than 800 years ago/kloc-0. It has been advocated and abolished for thousands of years. It was called Fusaiji in the Song Dynasty and Jiaoshan Temple in the Yuan Dynasty. Later, due to the fire, Jiaoshan Temple was rebuilt in the Ming Dynasty. It was not until Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty came here on a southern tour that it was renamed Dinghui Temple, which has been in use ever since. Today's Dinghui Temple still retains the architectural style of the Ming Dynasty, and its architectural technology is very high, which is extremely rare among many ancient temples in China.

Sanzhaofang, not far away, was built in memory of Jiao Guang, a hermit who lived here in seclusion. It is said that the emperor asked Jiao Guang to go out to politics three times, but Jiao Guang refused three times in a row. He refused, on the grounds that he was sick at home and could not travel far, and he could not be an official when he was too old. Because he was poor all his life, the emperor built Jiaogong Temple in Dinghui Temple and asked Zhenjiang local officials to pay homage on time.

Many people say that Jiao Shan in Zhenjiang, like a hermit, lives in seclusion on the island of the Yangtze River, with beautiful natural scenery and rich cultural accumulation. Jiao Shan, as a 5A-level scenic spot, is the most memorable scenic spot in Zhenjiang, because in Kanluoji, Gubei Mountain, Liu Beizhi married Sun Shangxiang, in Jinshan Temple, where Fahai lived in seclusion with Xu Xian and White Snake, and in Dinghui Temple, Jiao Shan, where Song Jiang and his wife fell in love.
