General computer, xp generally partitions 25G, I have never used win8, but in view of win7, 40G is enough. If the program disk is not loaded with games, generally 20G is enough, and the remaining disks are used as document disks. That is, disk C is 25g XP, disk D is 840g Win, disk E is 20G program, and the rest are F disks.

However, considering that some programs installed under XP and Win8 will produce different files. Personally, I suggest you install it in the system disk. Add 20G to each system disk, that is, drive C xp+ program 45G, drive D win8+ program 60G, and the remaining drive E..
