History of Hong Kong Arts Centre

1988, the auditorium of Hong Kong Art Center was officially transformed into Agnè s B. Cinema, the first art theater in Hong Kong at that time. Large-scale art film programs were launched one after another, which trained film audiences and filmmakers from generation to generation. Today, Agnè s B. Cinema is still the most active art cinema in Hong Kong, actively cultivating the public's understanding and appreciation of film works around the world, and devoting itself to training young people to engage in film and television creation.

Exhibition projects have always been an important element in the mission of promoting contemporary art in the art center. Since 1977 opened the exhibition, many works of Chinese and foreign masters have been exhibited in the two-story Bao Gallery. Near 1997, Hong Kong returned to China, and the Art Center organized a number of exhibitions and festivals on local art, culture and history, which prompted Hong Kong artists to explore their cultural traditions and identities and aroused great repercussions in society.

1984 the Ministry of education was established in the art center, offering different art courses, including ceramic art and computer art. 65438-0998 The Hong Kong Arts Centre cooperated with the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology in Australia to offer the first part-time art degree course in Hong Kong.

With the promotion of the Ministry of Education to the Hong Kong Art Institute in 2000, they have taken another big step in the development of art education. Today, Hong Kong Art Institute has become one of the leading art institutions in Hong Kong, offering a series of part-time and daytime certificates, diplomas and degree courses covering art, applied art, media art, art education and art management.
