Lego Marvel 76206 Iron Man figure unboxing review
Tony Stark’s movie journey comes to an end with the release of “Avengers: Endgame” in 2019. However, as a well-known superhero image, Iron Man is still a best-seller on the shelves even though it has ended on the screen. The LEGO Marvel 76206 Iron Man figure is a 381-piece set that will be released on January 1 and is priced at 399 yuan. But is this a set worth picking up for Marvel fans? Let’s follow The Brothers Brick and see.
The set comes in a finger-open box that features Marvel Cinematic Universe branding and the "Infinity Saga" logo. The assembled protagonist is flying through the air, with his palms open and ready to counterattack. Stark wore many different armors during the Marvel Universe. This armor is based on the Mark XLIII armor that appeared in 2015's "Avengers 2: Age of Ultron." A picture of Thanos holding the Infinity Gauntlet high appears in the upper right corner of the box.
The back of the box shows Iron Man in flight, with his back booster rocket deployed. There is a picture on the bottom of the box that introduces the glow brick play function of this toy. There's also a photo of the finished model, standing next to its nameplate, which is a spec you'll often see in Ultimate Collector's Series sets. On the right, the real-life Thanos has been replaced by a Lego version of the minifigure.
Inside the box you will find four individually numbered bags of parts, an instruction manual and a sticker sheet.
There are several new parts worth noting in this set. First up are 5 2 by 2 round plates with rounded bottoms, appearing for the first time in transparent blue. The inverted bracket for 1 1-1 2, here is dark red, although it is not a new element, it has only appeared in the set 10290 pickup truck before. You also get 4 1 1-1 2 standoffs, the first comes in tan. The last interesting part is the three brand new 4 by 4 curved wedges in dark red. One features Iron Man's face shield, while the other two remain blank and serve as his shoulder pads. On the back, this curved element has an identical connection point to the underside of the 2 2 round bricks.
As expected, the process will feel familiar to those who have built mechas in series like Ninjago or Qigong Legend. There are a lot of ball joints sandwiched between the stand and the inverted stand, which are then built on top of the stand with light panels and small ramp elements to create the shape of arms or legs. The first bag of parts is dedicated to the waist and upper body.
Bag 2 completes the legs.
Bag 3 completes most of the body.
The fourth bag completes the lighting functions of the head, arms and Ark reactor.
Oh, and of course there's the specs panel.
Once the building is completed, you will get the movable model of Iron Man, which is about 24 cm tall and has many articulation points.
There are a lot of nice build details that nicely replicate the armor on screen, such as the layered dark red spoiler on his abdomen. The shoulders are lower than they should be, and new curved parts fill in the space above them to make them look anatomically correct. But it also means he can't raise his arms very high.
There is quite a bit of detail on the back of the figure, including the rocket boosters. These are on Mixel ball joints, so they can be angled in various ways for flight. From this angle you can also see his head on a very thin rod - acting as a neck. This gives his head a lot of range of motion, but it does make him look less cool at certain angles.
The Ark Reactor on the chest is powered by a glowing brick. Press the button on his back and an orange light will appear in the center of the reactor. In theory, it's a great idea, but it lacks some visual flair. Perhaps if the body wasn't built to accommodate the lighting functionality, it would have resulted in a figure that was less limited by articulation issues.
Despite its flaws, this version of Iron Man also has quite a few features. Like the poseability and... it's cute, but kids will probably still use minifigures if they want to play out their favorite Iron Man scenes, so this suit would probably be better left standing for display. LEGO die-hards who are less interested in the MCU will love this set because of the new parts and colors it offers.
The LEGO Marvel 76206 Iron Man figure contains 381 pieces, sells for 399 yuan, has an upright height of 24 cm, and will be available on January 1.
