What does the left lobe thyroid nodule mean? Is it serious?

Thyroid nodule is an abnormal mass in thyroid tissue structure, like a knot, so it is called thyroid nodule. The detection rate of thyroid nodules is very high, about 85%-95% are benign, and most of them do not need treatment.

At present, ultrasound doctors often use Ti-RADS (thyroid imaging report and data system for ultrasound examination) to draw conclusions.

TI-RADS is divided into six levels.

1, level 0

There is no abnormality in the ultrasound examination of clinically suspected cases, and other examinations need to be supplemented.

2, 1 level

Negative, ultrasound shows that the gland size and echo can be normal, without nodules, cysts or calcification.

Level 3 and level 2

The examination results are benign and the risk of malignant tumor is 0%. Usually cystic nodules and cystic-solid nodules belong to this category, so it is not necessary to deal with them, and ultrasound can be reviewed every year.

Level 3, level 3

It may be benign, and the risk of malignant tumor is

Grade 4 and 4a

The possible proportion of malignancy is 5 ~ 10%. Less than 1cm, it can be observed that more than 1cm usually needs to be further clarified by puncture.

Grade 5 and 4b

The possible proportion of malignancy is 10 ~ 50%. Less than 0.5cm can be observed, and more than 0.5cm is recommended for clear puncture.

Grade 6 and 4c

The possible rate of malignancy is 50 ~ 85%, which requires puncture or direct surgery.

Level 7 and level 5

It is suggested that cancer is the most likely, more than 85%, and it can be operated directly.

Eighth and sixth grades

Cancer has been diagnosed by cytology.

Extended data:

The incidence of thyroid nodules is 20%~68%, of which benign is about 90%, and most of them will have no symptoms. However, if the nodule compresses the surrounding tissues, hoarseness, breathlessness and dysphagia may occur, which will affect the appearance. Some nodules can produce thyroid hormone independently, causing hyperthyroidism symptoms such as palpitation, sweating and shaking hands.

Iodine intake has a significant impact on the prevalence of thyroid nodules, and excessive or insufficient iodine intake will increase the risk of thyroid nodules. Edible iodized salt can meet the needs of human body for iodine. If you eat iodized salt and eat foods with high iodine content for a long time, it may lead to excessive iodine. Therefore, patients with thyroid nodules should not eat high iodine for a long time, and pay attention to balanced and appropriate iodine intake.
