On October 11, 2012, the show Made in Jersey was officially canceled by CBS due to ratings issues. It became the first new drama to be canceled in 2012. The legal drama starring Janet Montgomery debuted with 7.7 million viewers, but saw a 30% drop in viewership on Friday the following week. "Made in Jersey" was canceled by CBS after only two episodes aired, becoming the first new drama to be axed in 2012. The success of "The Good Wife" was the main factor that prompted CBS to develop the show - both Both are legal dramas mixed with life dramas, and both are led by strong women.

Another difference between this show and "The Good Wife" is that there is basically no "family conflict." The character Stark didn't play much in the first episode. He admired Martina's stubbornness, but the female executives at the firm were just the opposite.
