How is ice slip formed?

Reasons for the formation of ice slip: generally, the indoor ice rink temperature is basically constant at 0- 17 degrees, and the ice surface temperature is basically constant at -5-0 degrees. The ice in the indoor skating rink is formed by water freezing. Of course, some chemicals have also been added. The ice in indoor skating rink is formed by rapid cooling with liquid ammonia refrigeration system. Water is injected into the pool first, and then liquid ammonia is injected into the laid pipeline, because only ice with a thickness of 1~2 inches (2.5~5cm) is needed, and the time for forming ice by refrigeration is very short. Then use a special machine to clean the ice. Then nitrogen-containing substances and other chemicals are added to the water to raise the freezing point of the water, so that it will not melt when it is slightly higher than the freezing point of ordinary water (0 degrees Celsius).

Ice is a crystal formed by orderly arrangement of water molecules, and water molecules are connected by hydrogen bonds to form a very "open" (low density) rigid structure. At atmospheric pressure, the melting point of ice is 0℃. When water freezes at 0℃, its volume will increase by about 1/9 (the minimum water volume is 4℃).

Causes of ice slip formation

Generally, the indoor ice rink temperature is basically constant at 0- 17 degrees, and the ice surface temperature is basically constant at -5-0 degrees. The ice in the indoor skating rink is formed by water freezing. Of course, some chemicals have also been added. The ice in indoor skating rink is formed by rapid cooling with liquid ammonia refrigeration system. Fill the pool with water first, and then inject liquid ammonia into the laid pipeline, because only about 1~2 inches (2.5~5cm) of ice is needed.

It takes only a short time to form ice surface in cold storage, and then special machines can be used to clean the ice surface. After that, nitrogen-containing substances and other chemicals are added to the water to raise the freezing point of the water so that it will not melt when it is slightly higher than the freezing point of ordinary water (0 degrees Celsius). On the one hand, it can make people who are active on the ice not too cold, on the other hand, it can reduce the refrigeration system.

"Snow ruyi" ice-assisted slideway

National ski jumping center "Xueruyi" is the first ski jumping venue in China that meets international standards, and it is also the competition venue with the largest workload and the highest technical difficulty in Zhangjiakou of Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics.

Xueruyi circuit belongs to the competitive manual copying circuit, and the technical support is provided by the key project "Construction, Maintenance and Operation Technology of Manual Copying Circuit" of the National Key R&D Plan "Winter Olympics through Science and Technology" led by Tsinghua University.

Reasons for the Safety and Reliability of "Good Snow" Ice in Sliding

As the first large-scale platform in the history of the Winter Olympics to use ice-assisted slideways, in order to ensure the safety and reliability of the ice surface, an intelligent monitoring system for the temperature displacement of the ice surface of ski jumping slideways was developed during the construction of "Snow Ruyi". The system is based on the combination of fiber grating and measurement transmission technology based on the principle of Internet of Things, which not only ensures the real-time and accuracy, but also realizes zero interference of the system itself to the slide facilities. The measurement information can also be used for athletes to formulate competition strategies and provide data support for the later maintenance of the slide, which fills the technical gap of international platform skiing in this field.
