Bao's personal experience.

After returning to Hong Kong from 65438 to 0985, Bao devoted himself to the peak of Hong Kong's film industry with great creativity, and made many well-known classic Hong Kong films, such as Crippled Hao, Hot-blooded Man, Gambling Saint, White-haired Witch and Midnight Singing. Although he didn't start working in the film industry until he was 30 years old, Bao's artistic talent and unusual diligence made him quickly become a leader in the industry.

1986 was nominated for the Hong Kong Photography Award.

1990 won the first Hong Kong film award in his life with "The Man Who Doesn't Take Off His Socks". Since then, it has won numerous awards.

200 1 won the academy award for best cinematography for Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, and was the only non-American Chinese photographer to win this honor.

In 2002, he directed his third film, The Legend of Heaven and Vein, a Chinese-Hong Kong action blockbuster starring famous movie stars Yang Ziqiong and Ben Chaplin, and brought the experience and ideas of international production and distribution to China. The film went deep into Tibet, Dunhuang, Tianshan and other scenic places and was shot on the spot. It sold its North American distribution rights without filming. It was the first film to be released simultaneously in Asia and other regions, and it also achieved good box office results at that time.

As a photography director, Bao has successively made top co-productions such as The Promise, If Love, forbidden kingdom and Confucius since 2000, among which The Promise is a breakthrough of China films and a commercial blockbuster with the highest content of special effects at that time.

Bao combined the visual imagination of oriental magic with movie special effects that were almost unknown to Chinese people at that time, creating a brand-new pattern of movie vision in China. Because of this, the oriental magic genre films are gradually familiar to China audiences and become one of the most popular films in China market. If Love, which was filmed by Bao as a photographer, is the first Chinese musical film, and won the Best Photography Award at the Hong Kong Academy Awards and the Best Photography Award at the Taiwan Golden Horse Awards. As a Hollywood A-level blockbuster, "forbidden kingdom" begins with two Oriental Kung Fu superstars Jackie Chan and Jet Li performing the ultimate China Kung Fu. After 1940 black-and-white film Confucius came out, after 69 years, the legend of ancient saints was once again put on the big screen by him. In Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Bao once again brought the aesthetics, simplicity and freehand brushwork of the East to the extreme.

20 10 Bao is the artistic director of Adventures of Li Xianji, a low-budget film with both artistic and commercial experiments. It is precisely because of his keen sense of smell and judgment on film art and commercial types that his selected works are often groundbreaking and original, and he is constantly exploring new fields. The Adventures of Li Xianji originated from a postmodern short film of the same name, full of collage, comics and games, the combination of real people and animation, and imaginative imagination. In particular, Bao cooperated with mainland post-80s creators for the first time, and his exploration and development of the new generation of film types has aroused widespread concern in the industry.

20 14 worked as producer, photography director and special effects director in the magical action blockbuster "Zhong Kui Conquers: The Spirit of the Snow Demon". The film uses the world's most advanced 3-Ality TS 5 camera for full 3D shooting, and cooperates with the world's top special effects company WETA Studio in New Zealand for the first time in China. Avatar technology is adopted to combine live performance with dynamic virtual capture, and Hollywood's most mature blockbuster superhero movie genre is combined with China's classical legend to tell the story of the world guardian Zhong Kui. As soon as the film was released, it attracted much attention, and director Bao's new film plan was in full swing.
