How to teach yourself photography?

First, for people who have never been exposed to SLR cameras. Personally, I suggest that the system carefully read the instruction manual of SLR camera several times. Each brand of SLR camera has its own usage and characteristics. Familiarity with the instructions laid a solid foundation for the next specific operation. The functions and meanings of various key symbols should be considered comprehensively, and the use and maintenance of cameras should be kept in mind.

Second, photography is only the use of light. Familiar with the instructions, or continue to explain the theory. Aperture, shutter, sensitivity, white balance and exposure compensation are some important parameters that we often come into contact with in photography, and these parameters have different degrees of influence on the light entering the camera. It is very necessary and meaningful to understand the influence of these parameters on a photo. When you see a photo, you can quickly judge whether its various parameter combinations are appropriate and reasonable in your mind, which means you can pick up the camera and take pictures.

Third, understand the peripheral equipment of the camera. Familiar with camera shooting, the use of various parameters, to master the knowledge of camera peripherals. Such as lenses, cables, tripods, flashlights, filters, reflectors, flexible light boxes and so on. Taking the lens as an example, the lens is divided into fixed focus lens and zoom lens according to the focal length. The lens is the glasses for photography, so it is very necessary for us to master and use the lens in our hands. In actual shooting, the lens is even more important than the SLR camera body. The use of camera peripherals can make our shooting more handy.

Fourth, study composition to improve aesthetics and creativity. Photography is an art of subtraction. If you want to subtract things irrelevant to the theme as much as possible, the simpler the composition, the easier it will become a classic. Master the principle of composition, the factors of photographic composition and the division of scenery. Common composition methods, such as nine squares, diagonal, curve, symmetry, triangle, golden section and so on. It allows us to take good-looking photos quickly. Aesthetics and creativity depend partly on talent and partly on nurture. The cultivation of the day after tomorrow requires all-round artistic learning, which only a few people can persist in. Everyone can write with a pen, but few people can become masters of painting and calligraphy, and so can photography.

Fifth, photography is inseparable from the later period. A good photo is not necessarily later, but later photos are generally better to appreciate. Since you want to learn photography, you need to learn post-photography software (Lightroom, PHOTOSHOP, etc. ), this is a compulsory course for learning photography.

6. Share your work and accept criticism and suggestions. Whether it is well-known or unknown, as long as it is a photography forum or website, go and have a look and sincerely accept criticism from others. All kinds of shooting techniques should be learned, such as time-lapse photography, macro photography, portrait photography, street shooting documentary, landscape photography and so on. After a long time, we still need to determine a main attack direction. As an introductory photography subject, I just like landscape portrait photography, so learning various landscape portrait techniques is my main direction.
