Where is the site of Huxi Workers' Club?

The site of Huxi Workers' Club is a historical relic protection unit in Shanghai and a classic scenic spot of red tourism.

Dechangli is located at the edge of the western area of the public concession, where textile workers live. In September, 13th year of the Republic of China (1924), under the guidance of Xiang Ying, member of the Central Committee of CPC, the Shanghai-West Workers' Club was established here.

The club is located in three bungalows in Dechang Lane, two of which are classrooms and one is a recreation room. The club elected Lianghui Sun as the director and Ji Zhi as the secretary.

with the aim of "connecting feelings, exchanging knowledge, helping each other and seeking happiness", the club has taken various forms to attract workers and carry out activities, such as studying culture, giving lectures, organizing entertainment and teaching songs. Xiang Ying, Deng Zhongxia, Li Lisan, Liu Hua, Yun Daiying, Qu Qiubai, Yang Zihua and others often come here to give lectures to workers and educate them on Marxism. By the end of the 13th year of the Republic of China (1924), the club had set up factory groups in 19 cotton mills, with nearly 1, members.

at the beginning of the 14th year of the Republic of China (1925), the workers' club in Shanghai moved to Sandri, Tanziwan, on the north bank of Suzhou River, and continued to lead the workers' movement in Shanghai.

Of the former site of Dechangli Huxi Workers' Club, two in the north have been demolished, leaving only one in the south, which has become a residential building. In 1987, the Shanghai Municipal People's Government listed this former site as a revolutionary memorial.
